#87155, "Fog Lights"

Hey, I saw something a while back somewhere on a forum about HID fog lights for eclipses... and they said that there aren't any, but they suggested looking into the ones that come on the new catilacs... but now I can't find where that was... but anyways, does anyone on here have HID foglights? are they worth it? what kind do you have?

Thanks

I didn't think anyone noticed those yet.

Yup, I took a set of clear Hella Optilux 1100s and converted them to HID with a McCulloch H3 HID kit. The fogs were never meant to be HID so I had to customize them. They are 90% show as far as I'm concerned. The beam is not as flat as a true name brand projector and most importantly, since they are so low on the vehicle you can't aim them very high without causing glare.

I would spend the money on doing HIDs on your regular low beams first if possible.

I also remember reading about the suggestion to use Cadillac HID fogs/driving lamps but don't remember where I saw it at.

I wouldn't waste the money on a hid kit for foglights.

I don't really care about the money aspect... I'm going to spend the money to make my car exactly how I want it... I just don't know if the look is really worth it... and if it's not good for the road, I don't want think I really want it...

EDIT: AzDave, do you have any pics with them on? thx

A few days late but here is a pic of the Hella E55 Bi-Xenons and the Hella Optilux 1100 projector fogs after my conversion to HID.

I wouldn't either except that when I retro-fitted a set of E55 Bi-Xenon Hellas inside of my ebay projectors I was left with a used McCulloch kit and H3 capsules. Since my fogs were H3 I figured why not? If the HID fogs ever fail I'll probably go back to the way it was.

I don't have pics yet of them installed.

They look exactly like my Pilot Automotive projector fogs only these lenses are clear/clear instead of pearly blue/yellow. They do have that cool blue flicker as you approach my car from the front.

If you already had the kit sitting around, then that is a different story. But to go out and buy a kit just to put in the fog lights seems like a waste to me. But that is just my opinion.
