My car was parked over the winter. I'd start it up whenever I was home from school and take it around the neighborhood, but thats it. Now that I'm home, I've got the insurance back on it and have started driving it. It was really nice out a couple days ago so I go to put down my windows. My drivers window wont budge. The passenger's window works fine, but not the drivers side. So I take the door apart to check the switch and wiring and It's all fine. When I push the switch, the motor kinda hums and starts to get warm, but won't even attempt to move the window. It seems to me that this would be a burnt out motor. Does that sound right? Has anybody replaced a window motor before? It's kinda hard to get to. Any help would be appreciated. It's gonna suck to go through tolls and have to get out of the car just to pay, let alone the fact that it's been nice and hot and I can't roll down my window!!!

Beats the shit out of me dude.. I don't fuck with the door anymore.. I changed the door handle and after fitting my hand in that area that shit just got me pissed. I would just take it to a dealership

I had this happen to me before and this is how I fixed it!
What you want to do is disconnect your window control box from the harness and then plug it back in then take it back apart. Do this about 6 times to get any corrosion out so it gets a better connection. Do it for both the driver and passenger side. This will make sure you have a good connection.

Usually the if the motor sounds like it's trying to run, then it's fine. I think they either work or don't work. Could be a problem with the regulator.

Problem solved! After speaking with my mechanic (whom might I add has only seen this car twice in the two years that I've owned it) and finding out that the regulator/motor alone would be $100 plus $100-150 for the install, I finally got pissed off and ripped the damn door apart myself. I got the regulator and motor out and proceeded to disassemble the motor. Come to find out, the gear mechanism inside the motor had become rusty from sitting and wouldnt budge. I grabbed some rust remover and a toothbrush and went to town. Once I got everything moving again I lubed it up (hehe) and put it back in the door. Window works better than ever. I shoulda solved that stupid rattle while I was at it, haha. Now I just need to replace my steering rack (not doing that myself).
