First post here, I'm usually on the other forums, (talk/tuners).
I've recently stumbled upon a little company called Phoenix Imaging, they do hydrographics/water transfer which basically makes any hard surface appear as if it is the actual pattern that it has been dipped in.
Thier website is http://www.phoenix-image.com and they have done many magazine car's carbon fiber interior and exterior accessories.
Here are some examples:
There are normal plastic dash pieces dipped and made to appear as if they are carbon fiber. They are visiually identical, and 1/10th of the price. I currently have something going on with the company that will allow a number of people to get a reduced price if a few of us use thier services at once, so if anyone would like to join in, let me know, PM me, IM me at mangina24 or email me at mangina24 @ msn.com.

I'm in no way affiliated with this company at all actually, so I don't know how it could be spam.
As for rubbing off, the process is similar to painting a car, first it's sanded down smooth, and after being dipped it's painted with an automotive clear. Do you think the clear on your car rubs off?
I do own a DSM, I'm not trying to help promote another company, I'm just trying to help out the community by letting them get in on the group purchase.

It's also not anything like a decal or a stick on, they use the same process as a woodgrain material you'd see in a high end luxury car and like I mentionted, the company has had many show cars featured in magazines using thier services.
It's not real carbon fiber, but then again carbon fiber is either used for weight loss or for looks and obviously this stuff looks real enough (better than real in most cases, a lot less imperfections).
Plus the fact that all of the pieces showed in the picture below could be done for $400. Real or not, I'd rather get all those done for that price instead of paying $400 for a couple.

I read your thread on t00ners and am very interested, but have a couple of questions...
Do you have to order all 15 or 17 whatever pieces in the picture to be a part of the group buy, or can you just order say 5 or 6 pieces?
Do you have prices on individual parts? Group buy prices? I think it's ok to post prices, but it might be moved to the Group Buy section...

I can't justify paying $300 dollars for a 3 gauge a pillar when they can do it for $50, it'll weigh just as much and look just as good.

That is a close up of our cup holder tray as well as the cigarette lighter tray, try telling me that doesn't look like carbon fiber. If I told you it was real carbon fiber to begin with, you would have believed it.

I've read the other one on tuners also. And well ...if this is what your into and like the look its cool by me. I'm sure you have seen what I've been doing with real CF lately. When I looked at those pieces I didn't see real cf at all. It looks fake and really not a good representation at all, as that looks more like a uniform version of a checker board from the future. But like I said just because I think it looks fake, it doesn't really matter as long as the buyer likes it.
I think what makes cf unique and something that stands apart from other interior upgrades is the fact its not mass produced. It takes skill to make the piece and skill to install a custom piece for fitment. When its just a buy and bolt on, the only skill comes from the ups man to deliver it. I maybe bias on this "look" as I would rather see the real deal, but I think anything that could "soon to be sold at Autozone" is not something thats going to make you stand out from the others and is only going to ruin the unique look that real cf has.
My comparison of this product from the pics is someone painting their calipers red and putting a brembo sticker on it compared to the real thing. At a quick glance maybe someone could be fooled

The depth is determined by the weave. Tightness, width, quality of the CF....not the ammound of top coat clear. What you posted has no stranding to it whatsoever and does not refract light differently from different angles. That's how you can tell it's fake, and no, I wouldn't have believed that was real if you said it was.

No actually, you can order as many pieces as you'd like (2 or all 17, but if we get 10 people in on a group buy with at least $200 from each memeber, the price will be discounted 20 percent of an already discounted price.

I agree. They do look nice. If you're looking for something different and can't afford a couple grand worth of carbon fiber like ryan (no offense) then this is a pretty good idea. Personally, I think it looks a little too fake for my taste, but if you go to their site, the brushed aluminum doesn't look too bad, and that's not a common thing to see on a dsm. Everybody always says, you get what you pay for, but theres room for adjustment. Like paying a couple grand for a carbon fiber interior. Sure, it's uncommon and unique, but a couple grand to have some glossy hard stuff in your car? For those that want to have something a little different, quality, and don't feel like shelling out crazy cash then this stuff is pretty cool. Me, I can't even afford this stuff. Hell, I'm having trouble coming up with the cash to buy a $50 GST exhaust. But I'd get it if I had the money.

As for the autozone comment, you won't be seeing this at autozone ever, it's not something that anyone can do and does require skill. Carbon fiber requires some skill as well, but is much more costly. As much as I'd like to pay 2 grand for a carbon fiber interior that serves as nothing more than a visual purpose, I'd rather spend much less and get a full wrapped carbon fiber look than the real stuff.
I'm sure all the people who have nothing but negative comments are the ones that have invested a lot of money in thier carbon fiber parts, and I don't blame them for being biased towards thier investments, but please leave out any argument inducing comments out, I'm not looking to make enemies/start any arguments.
Then again, to each his own, people can spend thier money the way they would like to, I'm just introducing a less expensive alternative.

For what they are, I think they look really sharp. I mean..the thread said "Check out these carbonfiber pieces.." - But I don't think it should stand as a carbonfiber comparison. If I didn't have all this real carbonfiber...I might consider buying a few pieces...But I just don't know...I'd much rather go with some brushed aluminum..
I don't like buying things that's "try" to be something else...that's poser-ish. But like I said...looks like they do nice work.

A very respectable response, as I myself would prefer the actual carbon fiber if it was a lot cheaper. Of course there are some pieces that must be done in real carbon fiber (headliner and any other non-water friendly pieces) but I just can't justify spending so much on my interior when I've already spent more than $200 on the process or reupholstering many of the plastic pieces in my car in leather/vinyl.
I'm looking for a classy touch, I don't want everything, but I don't want a few pieces either, but unfortunately, I won't own this car forever and have to look at it as an investment. Would I be happier with real carbon fiber? Hell yes, and I'd be willing to pay for it too if I was going to keep my car for the rest of my life, but when it comes time to sell it and move on, I'll have lost a few grand in carbon fiber accessories.

im lovin the pieces bump all the haters. can they do like the door panels, headliners and such? or can they do it in the kevlar colors. ive had a few(4) carbon fiber dash kits some real some fake, but I think this would be a lovely alterative especially if you didnt feel like paying for the real thing. And to be honest I see no reason to pay for real carbon fiber overlaying when you have options like this. Ryan Hes's stuff looks fucking awesome dont get me wrong, but why pay the money for the real stuff if this looks just as good. I mean for instance the pieces he got done, hatch cover, door sills, pillars, headliner or whatever else dont weight alot to begin with so it definately wouldnt be for weight reduction. Im not taking nothing away from you Ryan your shit is pimp by far, im just using you as an example. They can do any pattern. Different colored carbon fiber (carbon-kelvar), woodgrain, brushed aluminum, little american flags, whatever the hell you want they can do.
Just got an email back, turn around time is about 1 and a half weeks at most.
