#81353, "Bitch ran a stop sign. Need to know door options."

So last week on wednesday a f@#$%^& bitch runs a stop sign and nails me on the passenger side. Really messed up the rear of the door and the rear fender and my wheel and maybe some suspension bits. I need to know what are our options for getting doors. I know obviously there is satan, ebay, and bone yards, but what about and fiberglass doors or carbon fiber. I have heard that squid skins is no longer making them. Any help would be great because I work like 8-12 hours a day 6 days a week, so my internet time is limited. Oh, and cost is not a factor because I don't have to pay for any of it. Thanks in advance.

gonna have to check local dsm'ers, junk yards, or satan. As far as i know, no one else makes any door alternatives for us...unless you really, really beg squidskinz...and even then it'll be cheaper to go the other routes. Now the rear quarter, that'll cost ya some ching.

alright, get the quote from an official Mitsubishi dealership because that will be mucho $$$, when I needed a new driver's door it was $2,200 Canadian brand new from Eagle. Labor on the quarter panel is going to be outrageous, probably, see if they can't pull the dent on that.
Then, eBay or find a door in the wreckers so you can pocket the difference between the OEM door and a used door. They will cost much much less, I found a door at the wrecker for $600 (still a lot but $1,600 saved is no small amount). Get a body shop to fix the quarter by pulling the dent, if you can find someone who will, but from the sounds of it your quarter panels is just too fucked up.
If the initial quote is too high, they will try to write off your car - tell them to go fuck themselves and find a lower quote, or say you will fix it yourself and only need money for the parts, or something along those lines to keep your car because they will shaft you for replacement value.

usually, if the rear panels are screwed up..they will total the car. since that is part of the unibody..it cant be just replaced...it takes alot of time and money..and someone who knows what their doing. might look to see if they just wont total your car.

The rear quarter panel will have to be cut out and welded back in. Any competent shop can do it, and it's done all the time nowadays since most cars have the rear quarter panel as part of the unibody. Now, depending on the value of your car, they might just total it. I'm guessing it will cost at least 3k to fix your car. Probably 4k+ for a good shop. Insurance will always try to send you to the cheapest decent shop in order to cut costs. I'd take the car to a good reputable shop you know and have them quote it using all new OEM parts. You have the right to demand new OEM parts and your shop of choice, especially because it wasn't your fault.

I bent my floor and rocker panel which are very important parts of the unibody, and my shop fixed it no problem. it was about 25 hours of labor between the two, cutting welding bending and refinishing ... that was $1,800 of the repair right there.

Go to the best. most expensive shop you know of and get a qoute for it using brand new OEM parts. I don't know how much your car is worth but my guess is that qoute will be enough to have your car totaled. Then you get something else. Good luck man, I'm really sorry to hear that someone hit you.

15 hours labor on the quarter panel? Jeebus. How many paid breaks did they take?

Well, I actually had time to get 2 estimates today. Satan and a local family owned 30 years in the business shop. Satan only wants $3578.54 to fix it using all OEM parts. The local guy wants $4853.37 using all OEM, but his quote includes alot more extensive repair, like all the suspension pieces on that side, blending the paint on surrounding panels, etc. But like above, the labor time on the quarter being cut and welded in is 14hrs on both quotes. That really blows, because that is going to be the only part that any shop will handle on my car along with paint. I can't believe these damn doors cost $1038.46. That sounds rediculous to me, but maybe not that bad, I don't really know as I have never had to buy a door before. And to make matters worse, my insurance is not going to cover because I have liability only, and the soon-to-be-murder-victim-that-hit-my-car doesn't have insurance. So now I have to find out by paying a lawyer whether or not I'm screwed on this one. This is my first 2GNT and not going to be my last or a memory, so I guess it's time to my house purchasing on hold because I am car guy, and now not just any car guy, a 2GNT car guy. So I guess I'll be renting for a few more years. Oh, trying to get some pics to post of the damage, but my daughter broke my digi, so maybe the PD will let me get copies.
