#80910, "Just did my calipers with G2..decals ?"

I just painted my calipers black with G2--did kind of a shady job b/c they have been previously painted twice so I had a ton of sanding to do---ended up only sanding/painting visible parts, and leaving stuff like around the bleeder screw alone. G2 is awesome stuff to work with though--they look alot better than any spray's I've used in the past.

They're black and they look awesome! But--

I'm about to put on the white "eclipse" decals and i'll be honest, I have no idea what i'm doing here. Do I just peel and stick? should I cut them down a bit? what shape should they be? How should I prep the calipers for the stickers? The calipers seem a bit "slick" at the moment--the paint has only been on there 48 hours..

thanks!
matt

(pics to come friday when I *hopefully* put them on)

I would paint the calipers another color (silver maybe) and then put the stickers on. Then paint the caliper and the stickers black, peel off the stickers and you should have black calipers with silver letters. I know you should use I temp paint on your brakes so I'm thinking most stickers aren't going to last to long on there. If you are going to all this work, might as well do it right.

It is always something I wanted to try but never did in regards to putting decals on the calipers. However, I can almost guarentee that they will not stay on because the high temprature will melt the vinyl.

Why not spray hi temp clear over the caliper after the decal is on?

that's a good idea in theory, but I've yet to find "hi temp clear" that isn't just plain autozone 350degree garbage. Any sources?

Since the decals are so cheap and sanding is such a bitch, esp with this type of paint, I'm going to see how long the decals last on the car as an experiment, considering I don't think anyone has posted about this yet. Then I think I will paint the calipers white or silver and repaint over them black, but probably over the summer when I can spend 2 days sanding off all the extra paint and let the calipers dry outside. My apartment just stopped smelling, and I did it in an enclosed area with multiple fan ventilation (because of temperature issues) emoji

As for the decal application, are they just peel and stick? Do I need water, an iron, or something?

How much do you want to bet? You dont know what the hell you are talking about.

I have had mine on for over 2 years now and it has been through many high braking sessions as well as through many high pressure car washes.

Damn, such hostility. Relax bro. Your brakes look good, I am happy to know that it works. I pretty much assumed it wouldn't work because of the high tempratures. You were right, it worked, don't get your panties all in a twist.

Ok, I just picked up a copy.

It is Sport Compact Car MAgazine, February Issue, Page 106. It is an ad for PerformanceCenter.com.

They took the photo at SEMA. Thanks a lot for letting me know. If you ever see anything else with the car please forward me the information. I would greatly appreciate it. IT is always good news to hear that the car shows up in magazines.

Ok, I have all the media up on the site now. In addition, I just found out this ad will be running in 3 different Primedia Magazines throughout the next few months: Sport compact Car, Import TUner, Super Street.
