#79712, "Just Bought Some HIDs Check Them Out"

Well winter time is here and the roads are really shitty. I have been saving my money for rims but decided I should be able to see the road first before I do anything else. I have aftermarket projectors and had Nokya bulbs that did alright but not good enough. So I have decided to buy some HIDs.. What do you all think of these?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ed=1103788539000&item=7941208852&sspagename=ADME%3AB%3AEOT%3AMT%3A3

I have heard good things and I have heard bad things, But I think its worth a shot and it does have a Warranty so I feel more secure about that too.

Great choice. I'm very happy with the quality parts and ease of install with generous lead length and seperate ballasts and starters.

Here's my ballast installed on driver side frame rail.

Here's the starter on the driver side.

How long have you been using those? And what Kelvin are they. These are going in my aftermarket projectors that I got off of E-Bay also, and I hope the lighting will be good and have a good cut off line also.

I've had the McCulloch's since last spring when one of my ballasts took a dump on no-name set of HIDs. It was cheaper to replace the whole set than buy one ballast from them.

I use a modified stock housing so I didn't want the full bright white output that the 4700K will give. I went with the 8000K and the slight purple hue they have. If the projectors you have are designed right that should work great. Let me know how it goes. The people selling the projectors on ebay are very vague about their products and most won't even answer questions about them. I hate to buy a set and find out they aren't even worth installing.

If you can, take photos of the rear of the projector housings and a few other angles so we can see how they look out of the box.

Unfortunatley my projectors are already on the car but I may be able to find some pics of them somewhere else. The back looks identical to the stock housing, and there is even alignment for the projector. Even with the Nokya bulbs I am able to produce a find cut-off line, unforunatley though they do not shine very far. I will deffintley take some pictures of the lighting and cut-off line.

Anybody know the temp. on the EVO's bulbs? They seem to have more of a green tint to them at certain angles.

From what I understand all OEM HIDs are 4300K, and the color is also helped distributed by the projector. Which in most cases people will retrofit E46s, E55, and Valeos are among some of the more popular ones. I am starting to really learn alot on how these HID systems work. And as far as temp goes anywhere from 4300-6000K is where you want to be if you expect to have that nice glow, and be able to see a long distance. Higher K does not mean that it will be brighter because the Lumens are less at the higher temps.
