#7943, "flares fit?"

would the fender flares on teamprototype.com work on our cars? if not how much would custom flares cost? i've seen them on an eclipse before, it was yellow and had some awesome side vents on it.

All fender flares that I have seen are all custom molded into the body, which is very expensive body work. You also have to worry about cracking it once you start driving around with it...

Fiberglass molded onto metal will eventually crack over time if you hit something, or from extreme vibration etc. Fender flares molded into the car are more delicate than a fiberglass body kit because if you scrape and put upwards pressure on the fender, it may start to crack over time. If not done right, a lot of wide body kits start cracking and coming off after just a few months. Some very nice show cars have literally fallen apart after a few shows.

don't they make fiberglass fender? lik the Z3 one or are they metal also? if the fender was fiberglass would you still have to worry about it?

Oh the Z3 fenders are not fender flares (that curve out a lot over the wheels). They are just replacement fenders. Those are safer, and are made of fiberglass but usually do not fit perfect either. May require slight modifications.

I think he was asking about molding onto the z3's because they are fiberglass.

Oh ok, if you got fiberglass z3 fenders, and then molded fender flares on it, I still personally would not do it. You have to remember how easily fiberglass cracks. If you hit a bump with a fiberglass front, most likely your bumper will crack. Same thing with the fenders, like if you hit debris in the road, or if someone leans against your fender, it may crack over time. I'm not saying it will fall off, but eventually it will probably get some spider web cracks that will get larger over time. Plus, you're talking about 1000 in labor alone to mold all four fender flares in, plus the cost of parts.
