I would like to know if the cloth I use for a glassed box matters. I know people use fleece but will it matter if I use something else. I dont want to use cotton but really strechy polyester. is this going to effect me ?

It could. Synthetic fibers could melt from the heat of the resin during the chemical reaction know as curing, especially if you mix it hot. I would go with the cotton fleece. That's my story and I'm stickin to it! I tend to go with what I know to work instead of trying newer things where this is concerned. Maybe someone else can shed some more light on this?

I can test the fiber to see if it is synthetic enough to melt. What about retaining the shap on the first layer. I used cotton fleece in the past but would like to experiment with something that will give me more ratical streches. I would like to use 100% polyester that I fould to be very stretch and cheap.

I like to use a cotton-polly blend cloth. It has a nice strech to it and is still stong. It also sokes up alot of the resin. Fleece works. If you do try a diferent fabric like 100% polly let us know how it turns out.

You could try a small piece of scrap fabric for heat sustainability. Let us know what happens? I am getting ready to do my headliner with a little mod/addition. Want to knw the best fabric. Normally use straight glass/kevlar/graphite cloth so this will be my first time making something other than an aircraft part. Pics too!
