I went to a local powdercoating shop and got "roughly estimated" $160 to have the valve cover powdercoated and the lettering machine polished.

Is this a good price for a high-gloss powdercoating and polishing? Sounds a little steep, but they do hella good work.

I was also "roughly estimated" $165 per wheel to have the inner part of my wheels powdercoated to match my car. Also sound steep?

I just don't know if there is a difference between what these guys are going to do...100% gloss powdercoat and machine the lettering, compared to just a flat black powdercoat and no machining for $50 plus shipping both ways.

the biggest problem with powder coating vavle covers is removing the old black paint, this is a bitch to remove. first time i did my valve cover it took me 6 hours to sandblast and chemical remove the old black crap. you have to have a clean surface to powder coat or it will just blister. but always remember you get what you pay for. if you preclean the valve cover (heavy duty stripper) you can get the price lowered.

98 GS, it's a work in progress. http://monkeywrench.mesanetworks.net

The guys told me this includes a white sand blast, I think is what he called it, and then a glass bead blast. And my cover is not black, it is just plain metal. I think I'm going to go with them anyway, I'm a firm believer in "you get what you pay for" and I've seen their work, it is amazing.

Yeah, the last VC I sandblasted took me like 2 hours. It's no fun at all.

if you have a core, this guy on Ebay will do it for under $50:

looks like good work to me, more than a bill for a VC is too much.
