Has anyone put a solid piece of wood in the trunk of their car? I am trying to figure out the dimensions and how to go about having one cut. I need something alittle stronger back there as my jack has bent the all so thin stock cover. Thanks.....

hmm.....nice. I am really looking for wood as i plan on moving my battery back there also. IT looks like you plate doesn't cover the whole trunk. How thick is it and will it support some weight?

it covers the whole trunk theres a 1/8 gap all around, the sides are mounted solid and the center is hinged in the back and rest's on supports from the sides at the back and middle. The handle to lift the center piece is my old shift knob. The diamond plate is 1/8 thick. With the sides mounted the way they are (bolted to the framerails and through the pan and the center being only 2 ft wide and sitting on the rest's from the sides it does hold alot of weight, there is no give at all in the middle.

How much would you charge for the diamond plate one. I cant afford one but I really would like one if it is hinged. I just traced the carpet for the trunk and cut it out of mdf. it's very solid, I should add a center peice I can lift. How do you keep the sides up and allow the center to lift??

I'll make what ever for any fellow member just buy the materials...I did the diamond plate for just under a hundred. The hinge effect is real nice.
