man you dont even know how bad i am trying to finish this! the fender took awhile because of how much i had to build up the filler to make it all smooth and flesh. the rear pass side panel along the top is almost complete. the sides are slmost done being molded too on the pass side. its all coming together slowly and probably will have cancer when im done from inhaling fiberglass resin and duraglass all day. i love it what can i say ... i have never had SOO many headaches in one day before! well, hopefully, the rear piece and sides should be done on tuesday night, will post pics of that when they are done, but i am soo happy with the turnout of the fender. it looks pretty amazing up close! thanks for comments.... any ideas from anyone on paint yet besides the 'go with a bright color' ..... lol ???

You will probably be done with yours before me and I've had mine for 3-4 months. Engine is coming out this weekend.

Welp just finished the seems along the top of the pass side quarter panel piece. No I am not using fiberglass along the seems on the urethane bumpers. I am using flexible SEM filler then a flex putty over top of that. Check out these new pics I just snapped a minute ago of the quarter panel .... enjoy ....

it looks lumpy in the back of the quarter. to avoide getting flat spots like that sand in a motion from top to bottom, it takes longer but is the best way to keep the curvature rounded.

top to bottom or diagonally.. and I hope that is NOT RATTLE CAN PRIMER!!!!! You will have many problems in the future with paint sticking if that is spray paint primer... In my experience (with 2 cars) wherever I happened to use spray paint primer, even if it was to protect bare metal, the paint is coming up....

remember my post about the bubbles in my paint? that's because of the spray paint primer and the real primer separating from each other...

Sand that back to filler before you actually prime and paint the whole car!!! don't make the same mistake I did.

-Roman if you werent so far from me, we could help each other get them done, lol.

-Yes that is rattle can primer! lol. I am just using it to spray to see how my seems look after I sand. Trust me, that will ALLLLLLL be gone before real primer gets on there!

-It looks a little bumpy/wavy in the back because its not wet sanded yet. I havent wet sanded anything yet, not even the finished fender. Once everything is done, I will wet sand the whole car down nice and good, spray it in real prime and check for lumps/waves and make sure all the rattle can is off before I do it. I had the same thing happen to me with my first car. I had some rust, sprayed some rattle can on it, and then got a super cheap paint job and the paint just came up from the rattle can where I used it. It was prolly a mix from the cheap paint and rattle thouhg but oh well. I live for perfection on this project and trust me, it will look 100% perfect when I am done guranteed!

-Actually, once the other fender and top quarter seem are done (which they almost are) I dont have the much work cut out for me. All I have to do then is mold the skirts to the fenders and quarters, and mold the front and rear bumpers. That itself will only take about 3-5 days. It should all be done in about 3 weeks hopefully and up in primer.
P.S. I dont know if i made a mistake or not, but a roof scoop is on the way! I think its gonna look hot.

Also, I wanna do supting diffrent where the factory mitsu emblem is on the front bumper. I was thinking of cutting it out and getting one of those honda civic grilles like they use on thier bumpers on the top and molding it in. But I DEFF dont want nuttin from a honda on my car. Does anyone know if anyone makes anything like those but smaller? I tried searching the web for one but cant find nuttin. Anyone know of anywhere!?

wet sanding does not shape the filler at all. it justs smooths out the scratches from rough sanding. You need to have the shape perfect before wet sanding. wet sanding will be done once you get the primer layed down.

I agree with star on this one. that rear fender molded area is seriously out of wack. Heres a pic I made for you with a perfect radius line that shows the high and low spots on the fender. you can even see teh bumper of the van behind in one of the low spots. keep filling those till its a perfect radius then it will be nice and clean.

NOTICE- this is not a bash. This is criticism. Do not take this as a bash. Take this as criticism. When it is time to bash I will inform you of the bash. thank you and good night.

I am so doing the widebody conversion too, check out my custom buddy club front. I cut off the top vent off a 99 maixma bumper and molded it onto the buddy club. I was planning on putting the knight rider lights in that slit.
