#75811, "question on racing seats (hurry)"

hey all..

ive been trying to mount some cheap APC racing seats with some crappy brackets. It turns out that the seat while sitting on the bracket is too high. I can sit in it, however the steering wheel is touching my legs. Obviously this is a problem..

Does anyone have some good recommendations for seats that are near factory height.. etc.. ?

thanx
James

Crappy brackets? lol

my racing seats put me higher as well.
My solution was alredy in the car... a 300mm momo steering wheel. but my head almost hits the headliner now.

the brackets I got were adjustable... there were three settings... the second one was WAY WAY too high, and the lowest adjustment still puts me higher then stock and I felt like I was in a truck at first, but I'm getting use to it now... but its still a little two high for me. I'm going to have them fixed in the future, right now its fine for me. you could see if Tenzo's brackets or Sparco brackets fit the APC's, that would be your easy solution... or have them welded to your specefications like I'm going to do.... it might cost you like $20 to have them adjusted by cutting and welding depending on the shop

I use to have a White 99 GS Sport with a Star Stage II Ball Bearing T3/T4 turbo...it was fun untill....well those who remember me know emoji Oh Ya...this is what I have now... a 99' GSX...

I know my Sparco's had a bracket with 3 height settings on them. The seats would touch the roof, so I set them on the lowest setting, which required trimming the part of the height bracket which wouldnt clear the floor when installed. Not hard tho.

Same with mine but i know the problem. I made my own brackets because the ones that came with it were junk. I tore apart my old seats and used the sliders and brackets from it. One side is about an inch higher than the other as you prolly know so I welded a 1 inch square bar down 1 side. Then i welded 2 metal bars across to the other side connecting the brackets and drilled mounting holes for the seats up through them and it has held up fine. I hit a concrete wall at about 50mph about 3 months ago and the seats didnt go anywhere. THe force is strong in these ones me thinks.

if you get better sliders (i got tenzo sliders) they have 3 different heights on them to adjust them to. the first time i put mine in, my balls where on the steering wheel and oh ya it sucked, then i just bolted them to lower spot, and just like factory! thats my recommendation (sp?) ..... lol .... good luck!
