#74321, "a question when putting on decals"

My sister has a '03 eclipse and she wants to put these mitsubishi eclipse bumper inserts on her car. The directions call for wiping the area down with goo gone and then applying them and when they are on to spray the stickers with a soap/water mixture. They seem like they dont want to stay on. does anyone have any suggestions?

make sure the decals have glue on the backside first. Also, you dont want to use too much soap/water when applying the graphics. I actually installed full body graphics without the soapy water mixture, i didnt realize i needed it until i was finished. I didnt have a bubble in sight

he /\/\/\/\ is right....don't use soap and water to apply. shit bubbles and that is no good.

use a hinge technique.....cut off the backing paper at the top of the graphics........like 3" along the top.
position and stick the exposed 3" of vinyl and sqeegee down.....then lift off all the back ing paper and sqeegee your way down from the top...kinda hard to explain IMO....and I do the shit everyday.lol

EDIT: wtf? wipe with goo gone...fuck no........wipe with water only with goo gone if there was anything on the paint...like glue.....but def. wipe with water BEFORE you put the decals on there.....goo gone gets rid of glue.glue holds sticker on car. doh!

Its not a big graphic its just letter that fit in. On the back of 3g they have a cut out that says mitsubishi on the left back bumper and on the back right bumper it says eclipse. She bought chrome bumper inserts but they dont seem to sticky.

yeah uh, you use goo-gone to remove adhesive...which is what holds your graphics to your car. you may end up having to buy new graphics, cuz they probably wont stick.

when i applied my diamond to my hood, i used the soapy water method, then me and a friend used our college id's as squeegies (sp?). worked out great, and gave us time to make sure everything was straight. but in your case, for bumper inserts, it should be pretty straight foward

let them dry... it doesn't matter how much soap and water you put on it, unless you have like NOTHING BUT SOAP.... but you not that dumb.... but clean the area with soap and water, leave it soapy or you could just use windex.... get it good and wet and apply the sticker, it should stick but be VERY EASY to take off and move around. Get all the air bubbles out and make it straight... then use a dry towle and just get the extra water off.... dab it.... then let it dry and your good to go.
