alright guys its finally summer which equals time to play around with my car. Since I have no money I decided I would start with painting my interior, which would look really cool without costing lots of $$. I used the search button and came up with some stuff, but I still have a few questions

1. apparently FUSION paint sucks and comes off after a few months.
2. SEMS paint, found at http://vinylpro.safeshopper.com/29/cat29.htm?841, seems to work really well.
3. regular clear coat found at homedepot will get sticky in the sun
4. if you want a smooth finish on plastic, sanding it is the best way to go. someone mentioned sanding it using 200-400-600.
Is all of this accurate?

I read somewhere that auto clear coat wont get sticky, which I think makes sense. anyone know where you can pick some of this up? Also, how many coats of primer/paint/clearcoat did you put on. Has it held up after several years?

Yes I just also painted my interior with Sem paint 2 days ago but it needs cleared now. I read in a post that their clear gets sticky when i gets hot is this true? If so what is a good brand of clear to use that is compatable with Sem and will not get sticky and is easy to clean off?

I used fusion and after a few months it cracked and got stickyt in sun, now Im at a loss for what to do

The clear from homedepot will only get sticky on the VINYL parts, NOT the plastic ones. I used SEM and it has held up great for over 2 years. I tried to put clear on the vinyl and it got sticky, but I have about 5 coats of it on the plastic parts with no troubles.

thanks farmdog so the SEM clear coat works. that should make it a lot easier.

I used Testors model paint.. I will take some pics and put them up tommorow and let you all see how it turned out.. This shit dont chip or flake.. It isnt even scratching off.

I painted my shit with hi-temp engine paint this past weekend. It was a touch up almost 5 years after I hit some of the trim with Rustoleum. Never had any problems. This stuff I did this past weekend turned out okay, but could be better. There are pics in the Daisy got spray painted thread in the pits...

Thats a good idea. its made and designed for platics. Post some pics I would like to see.

I bought the paint at Wal-Mart rite where the model cars are. You can also find it at most Hobbie Shops. Remember its Flat Black.. And you get the Meguiars back to black to bring a rich deep shine to it. Do not fuck with the gloss black.

what color did you guys paint your interior? i wanna get a chrome looking color, anyone do something like this? just a shiny silver would really look cool.

mine is a silvery grey. when you paint it, its shinier, but when you clear it...it tones it down. if you want a shiny metal look, you might look into the alum trim kits...because your gonna need some type of clear to protect the paint...and any clear is gonna tone the paint down.

the cool thing about engine enamel is its got ceramics in it...so it has a glittery/flake effect

Ok Guys.. This is the Final Interior Painting Thread.. And I am telling you all to just use Testors Model Spray Paint. Use their Flat Black paint. And buy some Meguiars Back to Black touch up solution.. Paint the panels let them dry for a day. Take the Meguiars back to black and rub it all over the panel like you would Armoral. And you will have a stock looking black interior.

Here are pics of the trunk.. I will show you pictures later of the interior like the side kick panels in the center console.

Yeah bro those questions are just about good. I used Plasti-kote metal flake paint on all my plastic pieces, and all have held together perfect. No clear, about 2-3 coats. sanded 80-220-600-1000. Turned out great and got everything super smooth. Will post pics if you need more help. ---Ryan
