Im seriously thinking about converting to this color and a few details still need to be worked out. If i do this, i wont have the engine bay done, are there any types of blending processes that can be done so the color change isnt so dramatic? Where can i buy this paint without going through a shop, i figure it would be cheaper this way? How much paint/clearcoat do i need to buy in order to get a nice finish? I know nothing about paints/amounts needed so this is noObious i know. Thanks for the help!

Not to be a prick, but if you don't know the answers to the questions you asked do you really think you can do a paint job? It's a very difficult task. Good painters will blend your pannles to make the new paint match the old. That's even harder than just puting down a nice even coat of paint.

well before you buy the paint you need to ask the guy doing the painting what brand he is set up for. Each brand of paint reqrs a different pressure, nozzle size and or reactants/catalysts.
If you go buy base, clear, clear catalyst, base color catalyst, a compatible primer with its own catalyst, and the reducers for the base clear and primer you will spend 400-500 for a regular grade like PPG or RM. if you buy House of color you will spend about 1200.00.
So you see you need to find out what the guy painting is set up for. If he uses PPG or sikkens normally then you will spend about 200-300 for the paint and clear. You need roughly 3 quarts of base and 3-4 quarts of clear depending on how you want the finish to be. The best way is to let the painter buy the materials.

Watch out for Sherwin Williams....i have had bad luck with it. Sikkens is very high grade and lays nice. House of color is top notch and it lays really nice not too difficult to spray as you may think. the only downside to House of Color is you must use all their products....if you try to substitute with say ppg reducer you will ruin what you just mixed.

yes, if i were asking these questions and i planned on painting the car myself, then i would be screwed. Thanks for all the helpful comments, i'll just let the guy buy the paints himself, too much info imo. THANKS
