Alright heres the deal ... first off, I would NEVER be doing this to my own car because I dont really like lambo doors on the eclipse. Anyhow, my buddy with a GSX wants to do some lambos and doesnt wanna pay for $1,000 for them which is obvious because nobody wants to pay that much money for 2 hinges and $50 gas shocks from a VW Jetta's trunk. My question is, does anyone or has anyone built these hinges themselves and how do you do it. This is was we were going to do but i dunno if its gonna work ... fab up some brackets for the fender and bolt it down, make a piece that comes off that bracket and bolts on to a bracket bolted down on the door and then connect the two brackets with a somewhat loose bolt so it will push up. Now our prob is that if we did it this way, the door wont open out a lil bit first to push it up. We will use the gas shocks from a VW Jetta's trunk to hold up the door since they are small and pretty damn sturdy. Any idea's of how to make these or anything.

This has been discussed before. Someone was making them then had some tragedy happen in their life. It's not something you can do easily for yourself.

heres the deal .... we worked 7 hours all night fabricating shit and heres what we have done ... we have the hinges made and welded and they actually work so far! the only problem we are having is when closing the door, it wont line up with the hinge to completely shut which is casuing leaking from water. we are going to work on it more later tonight and hopefully we can have something made up by monday of next week. our other prob is that the VW jetta trunk shocks we have wont support the door in the air for more than like 2 minutes and then it slowly starts to make its way down. the good thing is that we made these hinges so you dont have to roll your fenders or anything ... bolt it on and extend your wiring harness and go lambo style! i will have updates soon. i will take pics and everythiny once complete ... we are planning on selling these hinges and some gas shocks when we find some that will work on ebay or custom orders for cheap! maybe a price range of $200-300 just because the shocks aren't really cheap and neither is the materials needed to make the hinges. let me know if anyone is intrested and maybe by monday we will FINALLY have a TRUE BOLT ON lambo door kit for us!

just so you know (I did the lambo hinges,etc.. already) had it on my car done, took it off to make production parts and got too busy, but the shock you need needs to have a force of 600-700 pounds of pressure
trust me, try mcmaster.com look for shocks, its about 70 bucks a piece. Ive got the part number at home, I ll search for it.

these doors are HEAVY.

lol, everyone is suddenly a fabricator. yea, so you made some half assed hinges. well they leak water and don't keep the doors up. wow, that's nice.

maybe that is because the company that makes these NICE hinges actually spent some time doing research and development, compared to 7 hours of "fabricating" and used QUALITY parts and not shocks off of a VW jetta which obviously didn't work for you. Good job, let's call you Jesse James from now on considering your beautiful fabrication and welding skills.

Oh, and Jamez. I paid over 1000 for lambo door hinges from the original company. However, that does not make me an idiot. But then again, I don't consider myself a fabricator either, which is why I didn't just make my own from some shocks off a 89 Civic Hatchback or something.

WELL I GUESS IM AN IDIOT!!! i payed 1400 for hinges from decah that are made so well they cant be copied and they dont leak and they line up with the hinge..when your door falls off you will look like the IDIOT!! U GET WHAT U PAY FOR!!

you guys are dumbasses aparantley. this is the same metal that decah uses to make their hinges that we are experiencing with. tell you what, you take some metal and go out to an eclipse and try and make them without ever seeing and set and let me know how you do. i am not calling myself a fabricator at all either numb nuts. the doors dont line up because our brackets are a bit too long and is causing the door to come real close to quarter panel. it will get fixed dont worry about that. and my doors wont be falling off since we are using a wrecked eclipse to experiment on! you guys should listen more before you run your mouths. why do people have to come on to this site and talk shit??????? this is supposed to be a site to HELP others and share info. alot of people dont have the money to spend on this stuff thats why i am trying to make some to help out people morons! also again, ya decah took alot of time into getting their hinges right, i spent a total of 7 hours so far, do u think they are gonna be exact, im sure if i spend the time that decah has, i will get it for sure. actually, the hinges will be done by monday and i post a shitload of pics so you guys and eat your hearts out of how you spent 4 times as much as i did my hinges that do the same thing. we just ordered 6 sets of shocks from decah as well 10 minutes ago so we will have the same shocks as you fucks do. now, lets keep this a NICE, respected forum please. be nice to everyone instead of shoving rods in your asses.

i have seen pics of the hinges but never up close. 7 hours of work, i dont think anyone could do this fella's. as for the vinyl on the doors, i have cut several slices into it and cant rip it off so i dunno about that. i know what type of metal decah used because my friend called and talked to people about them, thats how! i guess you guys will just have to see on monday when they are complete and working! actually, its not bad now... the open, just ours shocks are too weak but we have the EXACT ones that decah uses coming to us straight from decah! and as for as for the door closing completly, once we trim down the one piece that bolts to the fender, we will be set ... about another 5-6 hours of work on teh hinges and the shocks will be here saturday and then they will be complete!

I'm not trying to take sides or anything, but give the man a chance. Although I might admit some of the questions could have been worded a little different, he's trying to help out 2gnt. If ANYONE can come out with a lambo hinge set that is good quality for a good price and can prove it, I have my money waiting.

Give him until monday, if nothing comes of it, then thrash his post. And just because someone can't figure out some vinyl, doesn't mean that they can't make hinges. Come on people, he's trying to build something from scratch cause everyone that has $1400 hinges on their car are too stubborn and greedy to take some high quality pics and share.

I really hope someone can come up with a set for less and produce them, no matter who it is. The metal and shocks, even at $70 a piece, can't end up costing anywhere near $1400.

Im with ^^^^. let him do what he wants to do. If they work and dont cost too much then im sure ppl will buy. Theres no difference in him making hinges, than anyone else on here who doesnt have the money to buy a hahn or star turbo kit and putting their own kits together from misc parts. Yes it may not work quite as well as a hahn or star but it still works and no one bashes them for doing that.

Its not an easy thing to just whip up like some people think. and i promise they will be done by monday and work perfect ... my buddy trimmed the piece on the fender and it closes and seals like factory!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! we are waiting until saturday for the shocks and we should be set to go. we are working on a new final pair and attempting them on his eclipse first to see how it is. he said he sprayed water from a hose all around the door and what do ya know ..... NO LEEEEEEEEEAKS! taking orders soon once we have pics for everyone to see .... this IS a bolt on kit too, no rolling the fenders or ANYTHING! should have pics sunday or monday, ill keep everyone posted!!!

IM NOT GREADY AT ALL!! i had the hinges not even an hour and went to the machine shop to see if i could get them copied for all u guys who wanted them..i will get a pic up of the decah hinge it is cut so precise and the machinary they use cost so much to run..thats why its so much for these kits..the hinge swings out a little to clear the door from the car then it goes upwards it has a couple moving joints its crazy..

c'mon. lets be realistic here... Decah charges a lot because they can and they have a product that actually works. You cant just go and cut some pieces of cardboard or aluminum cans and make working hinges that have to hold up to 600 pounds sprung weight. I find it strange that EVERY other hinge company that puts mucho dinero into research and design can build a hinge where you still need to roll your fender a little bit, but 6 hours with a pencil and a monkey wrench can result in perfectly working lambo doors??

actually my friend has been working on making these for about 3 months djtrickee ... we have only put a total of 13 hours into actually making the hinges man. we dont use some hacksaw or jigsaw to cut these either. my uncle used to work for a machine shop and has this gigantic cutter that you use a laptop to design your cuts and it uses some kind of laser beam to make a excellant precision cut. these hinges DO work and i gurantee it!!!!!! it wasnt just a walk out the door, look at the door and fender, draw something on cardboard type deal ... my buddy was working on doing these and alot of study on them without having them in hand, just seeing pics and talking to guys from decah to get these. we fucked up on teh first ones completely, then did another one and it didnt open to the side, then another one where we got it to open to the side but it wouldnt open more than like a foot in the and it woudlnt close all the way, and now he got it today when i was at work ... opens to the side a little bit and then right up into air ... like i said, we just need the shocks from decah which are supposed to be here saturday then we are set. the only thing you have to do when installing, is extend the wiring harnesses, remove the fender to slap on these hinges, and the door teh same. no cutting, welding, painting, rolling or anything. he put alot of time into research and after about 5 diff. hinges, we got it! who ever asked to order 10 at once, sorry but i cant because we only have 6 sets of shocks from decah. i can make you the hinges but not shocks. planning on selling the hinges and shocks for a total of $350 shipped. thats pretty cheap i think for about an hour on each door to bolt on. i have one pic of the hinge but it is super blurry cuz my camera sucks. pics will be up on saturday or sunday when my friend brings his camera over!

also, djtrickee, if all you like to do is talk shit and keep bringing stuff up from a month ago, take yourself somewhere bro. best way for you to build a tester is this ... take the intake pipe of your turbo. grab a friend and have him get into the car and start it up ... pull your pants down and stick your dick in the side of your turbo and have your buddy rev it up some, now you will be leaking everywhere! good luck on that too pal. if you have no intrest in what i am trying to do and have nothing good at all to say, dont say it damnit. i dont know how many times i have said that this is 'supposed' to be a helpful site for everyone and to discuss new topics and help others out, and it seems like you dont do any of those. you just bring drama into forums. have a great day and try to start chilling out!!!!!!

IC pipes backwards - can be done. actually i asked a guy online when i thoght they were on backwards and he showed me a pic of his setup and his were on backwards as well and he had it like for a LONG time.
Headgaskets blown - first time now. im sure you have done more!

I respect everyone and everyone needs to respect me including this guy! I know MANY MANY people have tried doing this and have failed and i think 1 has suceeded ... was this guy such a pain to these people too? All I am trying to do is make something to help out EVERYONE who wants these who doesnt have the money to pay for the kit from decah (if i had the money anyway, i wouldnt pay $1200 for them in teh first place anyway). I am saying that the hinges do work but are not the exact as decah's. I used 2 bearings and i THINK they use 1. We also used a spring too. To whom asked the question about making teh hinges so the door opens fully and opens up vertically, that wont work. The reason it wont work is because if you open the door fully and go to push it vertically, it will smack the fender and you dont want that! These hinges open and then push up and when up, there is about 1.5" of clearance between the fender and door. I am working making wiring extensions as we speak until we get the shocks. As I am in the process of changing a headgasket thats why I dont have pics yet except for one. How do I post a pic, I have never posted one yet. I will say one thing about the hinges though and thats that they will rust because I am not planning on painting them. The ones in my pick have a tiny rust on them from spraying with the hose liek 20 times, so if you wannna paint them, you can do so if you want to. Let me know how to post a pic and i will put the one and only i have so far! Now everyone including djtrickee, chill oout on me and lets all just get along okay!? please!

I am not gonna bash or anything..Jus tstating the fact that a friend of mine who owns a styling/performance shop has made his hinges as well on his own and they are damn good quality. He spent amonth in total from idea to design and working hinges so its not impossible at all to make them on your own. However I find it hard to make in a day or two ...But as I said..it canbe done and has been done alot of times ....Of course quality shits between a "fabric" hinge and a back yard one but I am sure it could work.

To Everyone who wants to do a lambo door hinge on their own here is a professional hinge that is made by decah that my friend is haveing put on his car. Just to show you the amount of craftsmenship and quality involved in making a well functioning hinge. Note our doors are really heavy so if anyone is to make a hinge you should use strong metal and will most likely want to weld the hinge to the actual frame because its to much weight to stress on the actual hinge itself supported by bolts

Decah and all other companies just use steel. It's cheaper then Ti or Stainless and it wont become weak like aluminum. They say its a special alloy but that's a load of crap. It's just steel.

Steel like you can buy at home depot but a little thicker and milled to look pretty. Then they paint it with "special coating" which is also a load of crap and just some kind of primer, rustolem kind of rust preventing paint.

im using the star stage 2 so the pipes are some what diff. like i said ^^^^ we researched these for 3 months, it wasnt a one day thing fella's. we worked on these for a very long time and got them made in 13 hours over a process of 5 diff. hinges!!!! pics will be up soon, dont worry everyone!

All I know is that the first person that has quality lambo hinges, can prove it, and for under $400-$500 is going to get my money. Keep fabbin guys, don't listen to the mob. I feel you guys....and i dont see why people do disrespect others.... i mean when you do things your first time, some people on here think you should you know what to do step step by step and obviously you dont! i appreciate just as much as anyone the help that EVERYONE gives on here even if they are assholes. i emailed the only pic that i had of the hinges to someone and he said he was gonna post it for me and he didnt. he said that he lives close to djtrickee and djtrickee wants a picture of me holding a sign that says 2gnt on it. well, i will have a pic of them done on one side of teh car on monday or super early tuesday. i have a sign for you djtrickee, but you wont see my face just cuz i prefer not to have pics of me on the internet so people dont whack off over me, muhaha, j/k j/k. i can email the pic to someone else if they will post it for me for my proof that we have made them and they are EXACTLY as described ^^^^^. The price is gonna be $300 flat + shipping ($15-20). You WILL need to make extensions for your wiring though, but we are including everything else (bolts, washers, shocks for doors, hinges, directions and what not). It will take about 1-2 hours on each door depending on how you comprehend things, lol. You DO have to remove your fender too to pop this biatches on. Also, if you do decide to purchase, remember, the hinges arent painted but the metal is black but they do rust really easy and I will admit that cuz i want you guys to know everything about these before you buy them if you want them! We prolly sprayed hose water on them a good 20-30 times and they did slightly rust. The only warranty we will cover on them is for the welds which you should NEVER have any probs with unless you abuse them. other than that, once we get the shocks, 4 pairs will be ready to go and pics like i said above will be up monday/tuesday'ish depending on how long we work on them since i am in the middle of getting my car to run in the first place. but no later than tuesday will pics be up! send me emails of who is intrested!!!!!!

this has deff. turned into one funny ass forum!!! like i said, i wont have more pics until im done getting my car running, probably by monday. whoever said it doesnt look like 13 hours of fabbing, is cuz we had made 5 diff hinges and thats the last one we made and got it right! sorry, we cannot sell them for $100 because they cost about $275 to make including the shocks. The shocks are called LPH 550 series. Dont know what the LPH stands for though, lol but its the same ones that decah uses and are coming straight from decah! The hinges DO DO DO DO DO DO hold up a door and are SUPER strong and the welds are perfect and will never break and thats a gurantee. The first pair to be sold is going on ebay with a starting price $0.01 so i will post the link in this forum when we get the first pair on there probably around tuesday and you guys can battle it out there who wants it, lol!!! I do know that these are direct fir for the 95-99 eclipse but not sure about the talon's. It shouldnt matter cuz they should have the same setup as the eclipse but i am just warning you talon guys out there! We also decided that we will paint them for you as well. Midnight black actually so then you dont hafta worry about nasty ass rust. Now I am gonna go drink some beer then work on that damn headgasket some more! I got like 10 emails on peeps who wants first dibs on them, like ^^^ take your chances on the first pair on ebay and after those we will have 5 sets left over with shocks. We are trying to get ahold of the company who distributes the shocks to become a dealer thru them so we dont have to keep buying from decah cuz they will only sell 6 at a time so they dont run out. Ya shouldn't even have bothered posting on here if your just gonna post them on Ebay. I could have been able to find them there myself. I was willing to even pay that 300+shipping to be the guinea pig, based on your word alone and the pics. Looks like I may now have to get some off Shockeclipse when he gets finished with them cause I don't wanna battle it out on overpriced Ebay.

I understand that you only have so many shocks, but it still seems kinda crappy to me.

FYI, it is super hard to come across the shocks to get in huge amounts. Decah doesnt want to sell many obviously because now someone had created some that work and they think they could loose business by selling one of their products! The company of the shocks called and left a message that they are processing our application and we should here back with them by the end of today (friday) so i will keep you guys posted on the shock issues. As of now, we have 6 sets coming. We are keeping 2 for ourselves obviously and then we will have one set on ebay with the set of hinges for the first pair ever being sold by us. Then we will have 3 left over for whomever has first dibs. I have one person who emailed who wants asap so i still need to 2 peeps who want em. There wont be a video made, but you deff see about 20 pictures by tuesday of how they work!

Truly sorry man, guess I misunderstood ... My bad... If other dibs haven't been called, I'm calling . I have $300 waiting, but would love to see those pics on tuesday just for verification.

You did mention you had never seen one of these hinges before your started the design and than all of a sudden you have one that works and it looks identical to the ones decah sells...

Thats what I thought. It looks remarkable like a civic Decah hinge that has been drilled out (twice I might add, the 1st one musta been a little off huh). Its already painted black and seems used... but i guess pics of you cutting, welding, fabbing, and mounting them would shut me up.

i personally cant make the door open fully and then lift up, the door would hit the fender then. i seen pics of these hinges on ebay and stuff and ive seen them on cars installed at shows locally, but never had a set right in front of me to base off of. the holes were drilled twice on the pic, because our measurements were off when we made that set. your 2gnt sign will be up on tuesday with my dirty ass standing next to the door!!!! lol. once im done fixing my headgasket, we will make the hinge for the pass side and get pics up prolly by tuesday like i said.
