its not so much a clearcoat as a gel coat which used in its molding process....if the coat is coming off at, or close to, the carbon fiber itself then it will be very hard / nearly impossible to fix. Mine is the same way because it flew it a couple times on me.

my $0.02 USD on that whole subject emoji

as long as you arent into the carbonfiber you can coat it ... if you have a little dish in the hood (like a small dent) to where the clear coat just came off, just tape around it and keep appyling layers of clear coat until it is even with the other part of the hood. then remove the tape and clear coat the whole hood then wetsand or buff it. you can fix anything as long you arent into teh actual carbon itself. it is not impossible at all!

Most cf hoods don't come with a clear-coat. It's a gel-coat like someone said above that is used while making it. Some people then wet sand the whole thing and get it clear-coated by a body shop. If you wet sand it yourself, you can probably get a shop to clear coat it for 50-75 bucks. It will look really shiny and way better after that.
