i was going to get an oem carbon fiber hood, but there are a few other things that im in the market for that are more important to me than replacing my perfectly operational hood. SO, can you install hoodpins on a stock hood? has anyone done it? the only reason i ask is because everyone's sig pics that have pins also have carbon fiber hoods but i saw the transam that had them on the stock hood.....

you can bash if you would like as long as i get an answer

Yes you can install them on a stock hood but everyone puts them on the c/f hood because its light and could flip up and get damaged.

there is no real point in putting them on a stock hood but it can be done. just dont expect to sell it if you get a cf hood in the future.

Yeah I would not install it cause when you do buy a cf hood, you can get back some of the money by selling it.

Plus imho, hood pins are kinda ugly.

Edit: Yes it can be done be there is no point for hood pins at all on a stock hood unless you just like the way they look.

if you rock pins on a stock hood...you may as well jus snag teh fake pins by APC...at least tehn you could sell the hood afterwards.

If anyone knows about pins on CF hoods...its me...I went through two windshields due to mine flipping up...I have pics if you like emoji

so ive decided to just do it on the stock hood, since i dont see any point in selling it anyways even if i do get a carbon fiber hood which im not so sure that im going to.

now, the question is... what color? My car is white, but i have a blue theme... should i get the blue anodized pins or will that look too ricey and just get the chrome ones? what do you guys think?

BTW: Are these things hard to install or are they as easy as they look?

get the chrome IMO. they arent too bad to install, you just have to be careful drilling into your hood etc.. Put masking tape over the spot you're drilling on the hood to help the bit bite and to save your paint in case the drill gets slightly out of hand. when i installed the pins on my stock hood, the drill slipped and i ended up putting a 6-inch gash in my paint with the bit. not good imo. it helps if you take out the headlights when putting the pins in.

well the conventional cotter pin thing sucks, every time u pull them out they scratch your hood (or at least thats what happened to me. i was always real careful and it wasnt a problem till one of my asslick friends tried to do it and put a huge scratch in my cf hood. that day i took them off and got the ford racing pins with the pin that slides in then u like move the ring so it doesnt come out. i duno hard to explain.
