#71180, "How to fill holes...eehmmm on you car"
Apr-21-04 07:01 PM by Pushin420a

Hey guys / girls

As most of you know I'm putting a new wing on my car. I figured I would tell you how I filled the little holes left by my stock wing.

I used little metal plates put on from inside the trunk. I used this stuff called Fusor #109B on the little metal disks. I let them dry 24hrs, and then added bondo to the top and sanded smooth...

Any questions guys, I can answer let me know.

i want to know as i am wingless and am looking for a permanent way to fill those holes. Where do you get the stuff? Any other hints or suggestions would be appreciated, especially for filling the big one in the middle. Thanx

I welded metal plates underneath the decklid and filled in the low spots with Mar-Glass then added a skim coat with evercoat rage gold body filler and smoothed it all out.

wingless rules imo.

I found it helpful, since I'm in the middle of a talon to eclipse conversion and I'm putting on a turbo spoiler next weekend weekend.

ok, i'm a little confused. Did you cut the metal pieces to fit in the holes and then weld them and grind them smooth and then you used body filler and the sorts to fill in the low spots or did you weld metal pieces on the underside of the body and then fill in the whole bolt holes with body fillers and the sorts? Sorry if that doesn't make any sense. Thanx for the help though.

THis is what I'm doing now....step by step...
I will have pics tomorrow...

Um...first take off the wing..you will have a shit load of holes..

After you take off the wing you will notice white tabs or clips...Take them out from the inside out..they push out.

After there all out you will have round holes...you need to cut some sheet metal a little bigger than the holes..

From inside the car you wanna put the peices of metal up onto the holes with the epoxy I showed above...let that heal for a day. for max heal time..

Ok now your ready to put some bondo into the holes, make it smooth and sand it down...if you need any more info let me know...Pics will come tomorrow..

The company that makes this also sells the guns to use with them. Guess paying for that stuff in the long run will be cheaper than having someone fill them for me. I'll be able to use the gun for other things as well.

I don't know, I wouldn't really trust that stuff over time. I'd rather have the metal plates welded under the decklid. If you do it this guys way I'm not confident that it would hold no matter how good its suppose to be.

for the most part I agree with welding...but isn't there a good chance of warping the metal, making things worse?

if you don't know what the fuck you are doing there is a very good chance you can warp the fuck out of the metal. either learn how to weld on some scrap sheetmetal and figure out the wire speed and voltage that will work for what you want to do and go to town. even if you do end up warping the metal, it just makes the filling and smoothing process a little more difficult but it can be smoothed.

Use the link I put on there and read about their stuff. This stuff is now being used by Dealerships and Bodyshops all over the place. It also has a lifetime warranty against breaking down over time... so no worries there. Don't know... but that's the way I'm goin.
