okay, i have a non-power RS that im doing a FULL power door conversion with aftermarket SPAL locks and windows and using the factory power door skins and switches from a gst.
HAS ANYONE ELSE EVER DONE THIS!!! i ask because i need to know what and if anything you had to do with the stock non-power hand crank shaft. as it stands now, its to long to seat the GST door panels on the door.
HELP!!!!

People have done this. Try the search function first. I read this question weekly. What people dont address is the crank problem. Do you ever see yourseld uninstalling the power stuff and going back to manual? If not, uninstall the crank mechanism . Or if that interferes with the integrity or operational functionality of the windows up/down capabilities and you still cant find a way to get it on, hack that sonofbitch off. As for the wiring (which Spal whires go to what Stock switch harness wires) search function, my boy.
I went all out and threw on some factory power doors. All I needed was panels.
Going back and reading what I've just wrote: You proably already knew it all.

umm the spal kits connect the motors to the stock window cranks (minus the plastic handle). if you hack the tip of the metal spindle off your motors will have no way of operating the window because the teeth are all the way out on the tip of the spindle. this is where the spal adapters connect.
i converted to power windows an spal windows but i just kept my stock skins. i can live with the holes exposing the window crank. i think its neat to see it spin when you operate the windows. plus i didn't want to use stock power switches/skins. i like when people fumble around looking for a window switch.

Holly shit I owned myself. I was really sleepy. My bad, haha, pretty funny huh guys, once I start writing I dont think about it. ha. duh, I know Ive had the spal kit before. What was I thinking. Oh well. Oh and I thought it would be funny to tell you to use the search. Someone once said the recessed (sp?) that crank spindle before. Sunk it in somehow but I remember it was a bitch to do.

Look here noOb!!!! im gonna bitch slap you!! A) i am the King of "Use the search", so you can bet i looked!!!
B) You dont read THIS question weekly (which is evidenced by the "not the typical" part of the thread title) im using factory power switches and skins on a non power door with aftermarket locks and cranks! you read about installing the power stuff while still using non-power door skins, or using factory power everything. now lean over hear so i can smack you in the head!
C) as stated in the above thread, since you seem to be talkin out of your ass and showing your wealth of knowledge , you need the crank spindle. its how the spal's work on non-power windows. thats why made the comment about the band saw AND WELDER!!!
D) i never asked anything about wiring! but thanx for the sage advice about doing a search...
on a 1-10 scale, you were worth this much help in this thread: -2 now go and play in the traffic

space the spindle assembly back. i totally forgot this. in order for everything to work properly (this was when i had RS door panels) i used some spacers included in the spal kit. try those...youll eventually get it far enough back to fit the skins on. dont go too far back tho...then your window will hang and not go all the way up

spacing the spindles... hummm didnt think of that! good thing i didn't cut it off and try to weld it already...

you actually space the spindle ASSEMBLY. i actually had to do this to get my spal kit to grip correctly...and for my RS panels to fit. there are like 3 (i think) 10mm bolts around the spindle. take these out, slip in the spacers (they provide many) between the sheet metal on the door and the spindle bracket...use the supplied longer bolts and tighten. heh do NOT cut your spindle....thats what is necessary for the spal kit to grip and turn the spindle. should work good for you now man

there are 4 bolts to the crank assembly. i tried spacing them and the window got pretty tight towards the top. didnt have any clearance isses that i could see either. i have the deluxe spal kit, does it have enough oomf to get it over the "tight" spot at the top?
