Question for those of you.. How much did it cost you for a full color change? And did they get all inside the door jams and in the car?

When I got the eclipse repainted, it was done a different white w/red pearl in it. They did the whole car plus the bottom of hood, door jams, wing and hatch opening. They also installed body kit, fenders, shaved antenna, and molded sideskirts all for $1100.

Got my car repainted the same color for $800. But my friend knew the guy. The shop pretty much took apart the car.

For a good paint job, you're looking at 2000-3500 including jams. For stock exterior only, 1000-2000 most likely. Keep in mind materials for a good paint job cost 500-600 for the shop alone. Then figure they have to charge at least 30 dollars an hour, and it takes a LOT of time to properly prep it.

I had the sides (doors, rear quarter panels, and fenders) repainted stock kalapana black. I also had a LOT of dings taken out and the bottom of the pass. door was rusted to kingdom come. They redid that and put new plastics on the side n what not. It was like 2 years ago, so it's tough to remember.

My uncle's shop did the work and i got a "frnds and family" discount. The total was around $600. I'd say they are a upper mid range body shop. Their work is usually quite good.

Some shops dont allow you to prep, others do but they prep their own way... unsure about cost diffusion.

Mine is going to be painted on monday next week for $5800. Its house of kolor and needs about 8 coats of clear mixed with the candy so it is a whole lot of labor. Plus i elected to have a wetsand in between clear coats for a crazy shine. And theyre going to put the body kit on too.

Cost is always cheaper if the repainting color is close to the original color.

One Day Paint & Body only charges about $430 to paint your entire car but only the visible parts (excluding door jams, engine bay, etc.) However, you only get to choose from their colors that they have already. There's a lot of them though. So I just basically chose a color close to my stock color so the door jams and engine bay wouldn't look that weird.

I know this may sound odd, but my shop charges $3000 base without jambs, pinstripes or bodywork. This includes removal of all trim, handles, bumpers and mirrors. It's PPG paint, but it doesn't sound like it should be that expensive. Oddly enough, we get alot of all-over paint jobs. We don't do bodykits because we had a guy who kept hitting curbs and cracking up his BMW M5, and my boss decided that it was too much of a hassle....warranty wise.
