Go to a tint shop (other than the one you went to) and ask to see a sample of their tints - ask for 20% - take it outside, and compare (remember it will look different on the window) - stick it on the windshield for comparison. What do you mean by messed up in a few places?? BTW - if it is the backwindow - I think you are pretty much stuck cause those lines will usually come right off with teh tint. But ask anyway.

My tint shop told me that the bubbles are normal. They bake out after a week or so. Mine did as they said it would. They can remove tint from the back without damaging the defroster wires. It takes a while though from what the tint shop told me.

Your tint shop told you bubbles were normal?? I've never heard anything like that... bubbles are a sign that the tint was not applied properly, it's supposed to be completely air-tight, and obviously some air got between the tint and the window if there are bubbles...

yeah the back window was all fucked up in my car and my bro's (talon). but i still don't think it's 20% i mean isn't that limo tint? you can see through this at night. i hope they can get it off without messing the wires up in the back. that would suck. then i'd have a button that didn't do anything

I guess this really doesn't help you now, but always ask for samples of the guys work - like pictures of cars he has done and stuff. The eclipse rear window is a very difficult window and should only be done by a professional. I have seen eclipses with windows that were done with one piece (no strips) it looks incredible, and then there are ones that are done in strips - and with bubbles to boot - looks like ass.

LAST EDITED ON 14-Jul-01 AT 10:39 PM (PST)

How much would one expect to pay for a good quality tint job? All windows except front obviously. Ballpark will do.

Also, I know for a fact that in CA at least, that if you have driver/passenger side front windows tinted too dark it's now a MOVING VIOLATION!!! Which means it will increase your insurance and go on your record. Yikes, I don't need that. NOTEL if the tint is below 35% I believe it's not illegal, but good luck arguing with a pig. i paid 125 for my windows, 20% on back, and 35% on sides (legal in CT). My back was done with 2 strips, but he hid the strips where the defrost wires are so you can notice it.
