Hey all,

I meant to get this done at home in MD but didnt' get a chance...i'm gonna tint my windows and I'm curious if anyone in the Nashville area has had them done, and by whom. Were you happy with the results? I really dont' wanna take my car to some sketchball and get it back w/bubbles and minus stereo equipment...

searched/asked aroudn here to no result...

i forgot the name there... But from 440 getting on to 40W towards Memphis, get off at the first exit. It should be the exit before white bridge road where all the constructions are going on right now. As soon as you get off, you'll see window tinting place on the right. It looks like an old gas station. I had my truck done there few years back and didn't look that bad. But, I usually do my own tinting so...

I know of two places

The 1st place is in Murfreesboro, Tn. which is like 25 mins from Nashville. They are on Murfreesboro Rd called Special FX. They do qualtiy jobs and I have gotten 2 cars tinted there. You pay $20 more for an upgraded flim called hyper-metallic or something like that, and it is guaranteed not to turn purple with age like the older tints and guaranteed not to bubble. If it bubbles anytime they will redo it. However the darkest they will go is 34% the legal TN limit is 35% They charged me $140 for my gurl friends 2 dr cougar, and $160 for my moms 4 dr Grand Am. Quality Jobs, I highly recommened them.

The 2nd place, my friend just told me about is in Nashville on Thompson Ln. I forgot the name of it, but if you want it I could find out from my friend. They were the only place that did illegal tints. For $20 more they would go as low as you wanted them too, all the way down to 5%. I cant tell you anything of their jobs tho.

yeah if you could get their name that'd be hot...i'm not used to being turned away for less than legal tint...thats kinda ridiculous in my book considering I am the one paying the ticket, but whatev....

Really appreciate teh info tho, if you could get me the name of that tint place (on Thompson lane) that'd be hot...

That other place in murphreesburo really won't do illegal tint? I wonder about places in Louisville, KY....

Vandy

P.S. i had 15% my sophomore year (with the GS) here at school and never had a problem...it was on a white car and the tint stood out really well, but i'm not a mustang and the po really enjoyed following me around when I went cruising...

Is illegal tint a pulloverable offense, or can they just write me the ticket after they get me for somethign else? If i get a fixit in TN, am i required to comply, since I dont have TN plates?

I know of a few in Cookeville, where I live, but it's like an hour and a half from Nashville emoji one place wont do anything but legal, the other, as far as I know, will do whatever. and YES it is a pulloverable offense, if they want to, just they usually dont, and wait to hit you with that when they pull you over for something else(in other words, they dont give a sh*t usually) And I dont think you'd have to comply since you're not living here permanently...of course that'd depend...you'd just have to explain to the cop or a judge to be sure....

And hey man, wanna come over this way and meet up sometimes? I'm trying to start an Eclipse/DSM club and that's kinda difficult when I dont really know anyone with an Eclipse that cares about it, lol

Yea my friend got pulled over for stupid shit here in Tn, on Thompson Ln actually. He got pulled over for his exhaust being too loud, window tint too dark, and modified suspension. He just had a fix it ticket, he didnt goto court tho. Last month the same cop pulled him over on the same street for the same offenses. Bullshit if you ask me

Another friend of mine had that chrome mirror tint and the fuckin cop got a blade and sliced through that shit right there. I was like DAMN!

Yea more Tn guys need to meet up. Im already in what I think is the largest DSM group around. www.se.dsm.org There is about 20+ of us.

Did I hear, Cookeville??? I'm In Cookeville. Yes, there is a place called SUNDOWN TINTING or something like that here. The dudes are cool, but they wont do any "dark" jobs. Isn't there a place off of Nolensive Road or something "20inch twinky"or something like that? But I assumed his sig "VANDY", so I only listed the ones in Nasvhile.

I got TWO window tint ticket from the same cop here in Cookeville. They don't like dark tints here...

They better not say anything when I get my blue mirror tint...of course, unless it's raining or snowing, I drive with my side windows down, and those are the only ones they really check, my cousin does the same thing and he has like 20% all around on a white car and they dont even look at his twice...they dont say a word either...

edit: yo guys, if you get an AIM MSG from TokubetsuNeko That's me

phat thanks guys, and yeah i'd totally be interested in meeting up. I've got a hienous boost leak at the moment and zero time to fix it, but hopefully i'll tackle it next week/weekend.

I've never had TN cops pull me over before (knock on wood), but as far as the cop slicing the tint, thats TOTALLY not legal, same in the sense that a cop can't legally 'fix' your car if its broken, they can only help you change a tire or jump you. Thats why you get a fix it ticket. If i were your buddy i'd sue the cop and see wait for him to not show in court for the ticket, then drop the suit.

FIY: did you also know that if yo'ure stupid enough to let a cop search your car, they can totally tear it up, but they HAVE to put everything back the way it was (if they dont' find anything)? Make sure you ALWAYS get their badge number before you sign receipt of ANY tickets, and when they ask if they can search, ALWAYS say no, then ask for their badge number. I actually had a trooper start going through my trunk when I was getting my wallet after going through my front door pouch (mom's car) when i got out of the car (i was at the beach in MD) and I slammed it down on him (the trunk), narrowly missing his wrists. Words were exchanged on both sides, but he had already written up most of the ticket anyways. Thing is, he didnt 'say anything about the trunk because he's only allowed to grab things on top (plain view), can't go looking for stuff w/o a warrant or permission. Know your rights and be VERY firm. You have everythign to lose, they have nothing.
