My hood has started to get cracks in it from this cold weather. Is there any way to fix them? Would taking it to a body shop when the weather warmed up and having them reclear it fix it? TIA

I would think that a body shop should be able to wet sand the clear coat, and then re-apply. They should make sure they don't go too deep and hit the actual carbon, as it will ruin the finish. I'm not real familiar with carbon fiber hoods - does yours have the typical weave pattern? 1998 Eclipse GS

Yeah. It's a VIS oem carbon fiber hood.

Let me know if you find anything Sonik. I'll ask the bodyshop we take our cars to this week about it also. I have a lot of cracks on mine also from being turbo and the really cold weather. Hot under hood temps + cold outside temps = sorry hood -Dave

Do any of you guys w/ CF hoods have that heat fabric underneath? I have my OEM hood and it doesn't have it. I think this is why the paint on my hood is going to sh*t. I plan on going turbo this month, and now I'm thinking of putting one on to keep some of the added heat off the hood. Good idea? Sorry to hijack. -Tony 1998 Eclipse GS

That's why mine and dualgen2's are cracking. Is because of the turbo.

I was kind of getting worried about all these posts about hoods cracking...but i am guessing its from driving with the hood cold and heating it fast....Mine has been driven like 2 times this whole winter so I am hoping there aren't any cracks
