Unscrew it, take off the boot, and clean it w/ alchohol then spray wd-40 on it.

The rust is messing it up. emoji

Replace your door!!? noo!

There is a pin (in the door jam...on the car), it has a little rubber boot around it, and a phillips screw. Well this pin has to be grounded for the sensor to trip. It can't ground properly if it's rusty. So follow the instructions in my post above to clean it and you should be all set.

I think that you may need to replace the car.

its black and it's on the car near the back of the door opening. kinda where the latching mechanisms latches on when you close the door. it's the only black nub sticking out of the car frame. can't miss it. you push it and it goes in and out and *should* cause your lights and door ajar indicator to go on and off

so in actuality b/c the sensor is attached to the car body and not the door i must retract my earlier statement. it is not the car door which needs replacing but the car body. the bill is right.

I had the same problem, I took my door sensor off, opened it, played around with it for a day or two, then realized that it relies on a cheap plastic part. If one of the plastic supports inside breaks, which happened on mine, the pin dosen't go straight in and out anymore. It starts binding on the rubber boot and dosent register as open.

The bad news is theres no good way to fix it. Good news its a cheap part. Not sure what Satan charges for it but I got a brand new OEM one on ebay for $8 shipped.
