I searched on how to post pics but couldn't find a thing but I will just try a few different ways and hope like hell it works.
Anyhow, since I am always making parts for other people's cars I finally had some time to start working on my rear deck lid. I am going to take the aluminum bars off my stock lid and pop rivot them to the carbon fiber one I pop out of the mold. emoji Full replacement baby!! I made it slightly largr thouhg so i can just use it as an overlay too. I probally will be too impatient to wait and will put it in the car immediately.
Oh well, hope th pics work. If not, and anybody can tell me how, thanks in advance. emoji
This first pic is of the rear deck lid covered in chop strand and cloth.

...here is the next step with it all filled and sanded smooth. After this is done and most of the pinholes filled in I will put the tooling coat on and lay up the mold. I have pics of that too. emoji

...and this is how the mold looked after I pulled it off. The one pic I didn't take in the sequence is of the plug finished and glossy. emoji
Anyhow, if i didn't hav the sealer on ther right now it would shine like a black mirror...looks wavey and streaked but that is from the 3 coats of liquid sealer that is dried on there and needs to be polished off...but I am too tired right now.
So this is the finished mold and as soon as I pop off a complete carbon fiber one i will pos pics of that. I am going to test it first with a white gel coated fiberlass part first...just to make sure it comes out fine.

..glad I figure out how to post pics...not that it was too hard to figure out right? emoji

..geezus, this kinda' suspense isn't worth it but I will try again. I keep spelling the link wrong.

ANYHOW, that is the mold! I know more folks would rather see the finished carbon fiber part but i thought this would be a tad bit informative. emoji

Well this whole carbon fiber thing started out as a hobby for me but I now seem to have been doing for a few years now for extra $$. Not complaining...but the first deck lid is mine! lol.
I am not gonna start advertising on here and get kicked off...just email me off the forum for question about getting one. That's all I am saying 'bout that. jawasan@att.net
Anyhow, I am always working on cool stuff for my interior. Some are not into it all, but I am, hence I am doing my whole car that way...or at least most of it. Most of the time it is hard work to make molds but the end result is worth it. I use to just laminate ovr the top of stock parts but that is no longer done. Molds now!

...actually that's an extra AMX body for a drag car running 7.40's. Here is a picture of Chris Rado's Celica mold. His whole carbon fiber Celica only weighed 36lbs.
