Driving back to my apartment last night, I hit a damn blown tire on the interstate. I tried to avoid it but couldn't and it hit my driver side. Well I pulled over and checked what it did... It cracked my bumper in several places. Near my headlights, sides where the bumper bolts on, etc... It pretty much cracked all the weak spots.

Question: Other than driving safer and avoiding the damn things on the road... what can I do to make my bumper stronger? I guess everytime I hit something I have to re-fiberglass and paint it? Would putting some kind of metal mesh in with the fiberglass help? Just looking for suggestions!

you might check with the shop that fixes it and see if they will add a couple layers of fiberglass to the back of the bumper if you have clearance to, if it can be done it will be a little pricey though.

well after u paint the bumper u might want to put on about three coats of Poly Urethane...i use it in my house, it keeps the soft wood floors fromt denting, u could drop a brick and wouldnt know it....give that a try, dont worry its clear, ittle make ur bumper shiny...late

Back your glass with something. In the deep areas use expanding foam or something like that that hardens but still sticks, in the flat areas epoxy in some metal or abs. Boats can run into docks and not crack because their glass is backed with expanding foam.
