actually i was in a big crash w/o a setbelt and if it wasn't for the airbag i'd have a pretty messed up face. thanks for the replies, guess i'll stick with the lovely stocker

Old airbags (Gen 1) like in our cars, are designed to save a 180lb man WITHOUT seat belts on.
The new Gen 2 airbags (I think year 2000 and up) are designed to hold back a 180lb man WEARING a seat belt.
Just a random thing I heard. Now back to the main point. They changed the airbag designs 'coz people thought that they were safe, without seatbelts... the fact that people fly out of windshield get tossed around, get burnt by airbags, or airbags don't inflate didn't seem to concern them.
Obviously most people assume that it'll never happen to them...
Dude, if you care about your parents, make them wear seat belts. Nag 'em until they do it. I hope that they never ever have to find out. Air bags or not.

i took my passengerside airbag out as well to save weight plus it wouldn't have worked with the driver's side one disco'd. i don't like airbags. i have seen and heard 2 many cases were people have lost teeth and broken noses due to airbags(well....and steering wheels too). i rock the seat belt 24/7 i am a firm believer that seatbelt save lives! my girl was driving my toyota at around 90 mph, fish-tailed it and flipped the bitch 4 times with me in it. the paramedics were suprised we weren't dead. the truck was totaled. i will NOT let anyone in my car unless they wear a seatbelt! i keep the pictures in my glove box to remind people who drive in mycar and don't wanna buckle up that seatbelts DO save lives. so remember ALWAYS buckle up and if you streetrace(which probabley most of us do) be careful!!!

Yes sir dad.
Sike, im playin. Yeah in my first accident i wasnt wearing a seatbelt and I slammed into a conversion van at about 45 mph (the van was totally stopped, long story) But anyhow, I was in an older model accord w/out airbags, I slammed my face into the steering wheel. It was the nastiest thing in the world. Ive never spit up so much blood in my life. My nose wasnt broken (well it couldve been, just didnt hurt THAT much) But there was blood everywhere, all over the seats, the window, everywhere. The guy I hit was yelling at me not to move cause my nose couldve been pinching my brain, that scared the fuck out of me. That shit was nasty tho.
Its funny cause I still didnt learn, in my second accident with my eclipse I wasnt wearing a seatbelt. I hit a car twice going 80mph on I-66, 360'd into a jersey wall. Its funny my girl was in the car, scared shitless. But we didnt have a scratch on us. We were so lucky. I still wasnt wearing my seatbelt. Its funny, cause i still dont wear one, maybe I just have a bad memory.

heh well I have devoloped a habit of wearing seatbelts. Once my cousin let me borrow his Willans harness and I couldn't go back to stock belts. I don't like shiftin around in the seat, using the panels to support me while I'm cornering. I don't wanna get tossed around like a rag doll during autocross too. It just doesn't feel right to me anymore to not where a seat belt. It's the law that you must wear a seatbelt too here in kali anyway, so all the more reason to wear a seatbelt.

so klipz- youd rather hit your face into a steering wheel and cause definite damage instead of an airbag and have less damage, if any? unless you have a racing harness, then thats something else, since harnesses dont give slack like a belt.

I was thinking about getting a Momo wheal, but then I thought they may look good but how good is it going to look when it's flying at your face at 50mph. I always where my seatbelt, I just don't feal right without it.

i have long legs so i sit pretty far back from the wheel so by the time the belt locks my face isn't even close to the wheel. trust me i found out already!
