anyone know of any GOOD faq's about installing indiglo's and taking the needles off. i heard somthing about a plastic fork??? i am not gonna fuck my shit up and like not have a tach needle or some shit like that. FUCK THAT i mean i would pay someone to do it so that i wont break it if it is that hard. thanks all. i am gonna paint the needle with a blue clear stain or a purple clear stain since i have purple neons. i also thought about painting the whole needle solid silver cause i am painting the bezel silver. i would tape off just the tip of the needle and stain that red. whatcha think?

To put the guages on, take out the trim around the cluster, there is 2 screws on the underside/top. After you remove the trim, there is 4 screws around the actual cluster, take those out, preferably with a magnetic screw driver (i kept dropping them). OK after all the screws are out, the cluster should come right out (you may hafta tilt your steering wheel all the way down). Take the clear plastic cover and the black plastic bezel off by unclipping them. The indiglos should go right over the existing guages, put the needles through the holes.... DO NOT remove the needles. You might waht to use a couple small pieces of double sided tape to keep the indiglos in place. Hook up all the wires for them to the relay or whatever, and put all the pieces back. As for the wire to tap into, use the parkin light, check the mods list on the main 2gnt page for a pic of which one it is.....it's hosted by Wyatt. Good luck. Hope i didnt miss anything. Getting the needles off without breaking them is easy. You just lightly pull out on the needle and it should come off. The plastic fork you heard about is another way to remove them. You just put something under the needle and pry it off. When I bought my faces from NR they included a little pry tool. You could use just about anything though. Also, when I say pry or pull the needle, I am talking about the center of the needle. I figured you knew this but I thought I would throw it in there anyway. Now, here comes the kicker...getting the needles back on correct is a B***H! Since when you remove the needles some of the movement will move it's impossible to just stick them back on and have them aligned right. Here's the best way I found. Record the readings for the tach, temp, and fuel level with the car running and at operating temp. Then when you get everything done start the car and let it run for awhile (until you think it's warmed up to oper temp). Now, just stick on the temp, tach, and fuel needles where they were before. The speeo is a bit more involved. You have to pace someone at a pre-determined speed, when you reach that speed just hold it and stick on the needle. There you go all done. Hope this helps. that fucking blows...dang that sucks. i need to find someone that has a very accurate speedo. also i can go into town and there is a radar thing that tells how fast you are going...that would work right? also why cant i just take them off with teh car off and mark teh spot they were at and then press them back on at the same spot? i just want to paint them so that i dont have blue gauges with orange needles.

You can't just pull them off & re-install them because the pin that the needles are installed on will move when you remove the needles. One thing that you can try that may work is take out the little stop that the needles rest on. This will allow the needle to go all the way to the bottom when you shut the car off. Check where the needle hangs when the car is off, try installing the needle there and see what happens. Just an idea but it might work. thats what i did.(actually i bent the needle over the stop and marked where it pointed) it works for the tach and speedo. the temp and gas are easy to take care of. fill up your tank and put the needle on full. warm up the car and put the temp needle in the middle. btw i just used 2 small screwdrivers to pry them off...not a huge deal like everyone seems to make it aem cai pacesetter headers gs-t exhaust red altezzas rims, tires, and a bunch of other little stuff....that list is way too short....more will come!

what do you mean you bent them over the stop???? i looked at the needles today and only 2 sides are painted with clear paint. i think i can get some type of paint remover or something and rub it off. i want to paint it clear blue or something to match the gauges. damn i hope i dont fuck my shit up like i did in the back. but at least i am talkig to you guys first instead of after i did it!!! hahaha well if i do you will see a post like this

oh just thought about this...what would i use to strip the old paint off...also i may be able to just wipe off the old paint and use a permenent marker of teh color i want and do it that way or is that the fucking ricey way outta pulling the needles off? hahha i want a really clean looking job so i guess this last idea is out. oh well fuck me!

the needles will actually bend alot more than you would think. you pull the needle over the post that stops it at 0 mph/rpm and mark where it stops on its own. thats where you want it to point when you put it back on. aem cai pacesetter headers gs-t exhaust red altezzas rims, tires, and a bunch of other little stuff....that list is way too short....more will come!
