#6213, "LCD Screen Mounting Locations!!!! Ideas???"

Hiya guys!

I have been toying with the LCD screen Idea for a looong time, and now that I need a computer in my car 24/7 (Accel DFI fuel Computer)... I figured why not use a central screen to show everything.

I was thinking of at least a 9" screen. It has to be visible to me while driving for tuning purposes... can't keep looking down..

Basically I know that lots of companies sell LCD monitors of all sizes with 15-pin Video-card PC hookups. I just need ideas on where to mount the screen. I will hide the computer somewhere else in the car and run a wireless keyboard and mouse.

Considerations
I have to be able to see it!
It shouldn't fall off under heavy acceleration, cornering, bumps etc...
It has to be somewhat weather proof (long drive under the sun..)
It to be detacheable or concealable (preferrably).

My current Idea is to mount it on the top of the dasboard above the center vents. My problems there would be what the heck to bolt the screen to. Also it would be *extremely* visible from outside the car (theft incentive) so it would have to be detachable...

how about on the sun visor. I dont see much any other place to place it to be visible from the driver seat, and be semi-stealth and out of direct sunlight. Good-luck bro.

How about you look at the Alpine retractable screen. It's a CD player/LCD screen that when the car is turned on, comes out of the head unit, and then goes back in when the car is turned off. That's something you might want to look into.

Take care
Damien

I think that screen would be way too small for his computer use. Maybe passenger side air bag compartment (would mean removing it) or removing the AC and other vents and controls. Otherwise, there really isn't much space in our cars...

mount it in the headliner in front of the rearview mirror. you can get it fit flush in there and wouldnt need it to be detachable
