#61143, "Silvia S15 Headlight Conversion? Has anyone done it?"

I am running this same thread on dsmtuenrs and I havent gotton any really good responses back so I was hoping that someone in here might know or has done it themselves.

I need to know if anyone has done the Silvia S15 Headlight conversion to their 95-99 Eclipse? All the body work is going to be done by me and my friends so that wont be a problem. The problem is the headlights I dont want to start cutting the metal for the new headlights unless I know for sure what and where I am cutting. I would do the cutting but I dont want to have to make it a trial and error test if I dont have to.

If no one can help me here I think it might just turn out to be a trial and error test.

So if anyone has any information on the exact mounting location for the headlights and or know anyone please email me at nau8ticacom@aol.com

your fellow 2gnt
tyson

there has been some done before. have you tried a search? if you search for the s15 you'll more than likely find some previous posts about it. i know there was a post a little while back on it and there was a pic of an eclipse done like that.

Ive been lookin to do this for awhile now, only thing holdin me back is the $700 I would be spendin on just the headlights, SCREW THAT!
For that much money I could get an S-AFC, A-VCR, and the two phantom gauges I want... Looks hot, but u gotta be a "baller" with money to do it...

Yeah money is always an issue when comes to fixing up cars and what is the best thing to do next on the car and whether it is worth it or not.

The best thing is that I know people at www.improvmotorsports.com, VIS and Extreme Dimensions so getting price for everything at cost/ free wont be a problem... its just that I need to know how to do this before I start to do anything.

thanks

you would have to modify the front bumper a little cause the S15 lights have sharp corners

plus you have to modify the hood and fenders, a lot of work.

That car doesn't look as good in person..... The lights aren't even and there is a nasty gap between the bumper and the light. The paint job looks kinda crappy too, it has that faded look.

well first off, Im gana be a A-hole, but if you and your buddy are doin the body work, why are you asking us how to do it? If you have done body work befor you should know how to do it. But you are gana need to trim he fenders, hood and bummper and make them look nice and make new mounts for the lights. There will be welding, metal work and fiberglass work. You will also need to get the $700 lights (ebay price) and a new front bummper since with the cuting of the front you are gana have a mitch-matched front and headlight combo that would make the bumper look stupid since the lights go in and sick out more. So what Im trying to say is 90% of the time of "me and my buddie are gana do it" turns out to, we bought the parts, we thought we could do it, it looked easy, but we have new clue and just wasted out time and $$$$$. So if you have done this kinda stuff before, good for you and you have my respect, if not...... I wish you luck and Im done being a A-hole

In my post I mentioned nothing about being a prefessional at doing bodywork. I am asking cause I want more knowledge before I go into something blinded. Its like the millions of car junkies asking each other what parts to recommend and where they should get it from, its not that they dont know anything or that they do, I am sure that they are wanting others opinions in order to make their own decision easier. Its the same for me I just want to make sure that before doing something I know what I am doing to a certain degree. I didnt say this was going to be easy and I didnt say that it looked easy to do that is why I am wanting to do this.

I just asked for information if anyone knew of someone or has done it themselves. So be a professional about it we arent here to bring each other down we are just here to help each other out, that is what a forum is based on to answer peoples questions and ask questions in return.

Thanks for the info, but no thanks for your assumptions.

Tyson

Thats cool, but that is what I am talking about you know someone that has done the conversion if he could give me some info on what exactly needs to be cut out of the headlight area. The bumper, fender and hood I will take care of its just the headlights are my main concern. I need to know where things need to be cut in relation to the s15 headlights and the frame of the car.

thanks

These conversions that we are talking about is simply taking another part in this case headlights from another car and modifying it to fit the eclipse or any other car. The "Supra" which is a Toyota Supra was the orange car in the movie Fast and the Furious and the Cream car in the 2Fast 2Furious. The "Silvia" or Nissan Silvia is a car only produced in Japan, the Silvia that we are more accustomed to seeing here in the states are the Nissan 240SX the 300ZX ans so forth that has no similar features.

The converions can be seen on many cars: The Acura Integra here in the states has different headlights than the Integra Type-R in Japan so people here do the Type-R headlight conversion to their car. Same with the Nissan 240 the Silvia headlight conversion is done, The Silvia headlights can also be seen on the Eclipse. Not only are the headlights done but the tail lights are done as well.

Check out some car shows from time to time or go to some sites that cover some events like www.speedoptions.com you will see what I am talking about.

Hope that clears somethings up.

Tyson

There was no sarcasm implied or tend to be implied I answered the dudes questions, without being a dick and without sarcasm you dont know me and you dont know the person that I am so you dont know when I am being sarcastic or not. I answer everyones qu=uestions in the same manor as I always do. My only goal is to help out as mane people as I can with what I can and I learn from others that can teach me something new. As simple as that, so im your opinion if that was sarcasm Sorry to the guy that I was trying to answer, but no sarcasm intended, and for the other person saying that I was you should get to know someone before you can judge them. If it were sarcastic I am sure that he could have told me himself and I would have explained myself like i just did to him not to you.

So for anyone else that took the information as being sarcastic sorry. For those who know me that is the manner in which I speak.

thanks
tyson

he meant that bill was being sarcastic when he asked what a conversion was. bills knows his shit. he REALLY knows his shit. (no sarcasm intended there). he was just messing with you. that's why it was kinda funny when you went into a whole explanation for him an stuff.

it's all good though. welcome to the board! emoji

im getting it done as soon as i get my body work done on my car..all you have to do is make the endge on the inner part of the fender sraighter and the outer part of the fender of course needs to be cut out and the hood needs to be trimmed and of course all the mounting points need to be modified..but in most cases the other part of the bumper doesnt need to ne modified..you can line it up with the stock bumper line and you would just have to make the line match up..
