#60956, "3mm blue led's for console conversion"

ok well i don't know if everyone here has ever found some, but they are a pita to find anywhere. radioshack doesn't sell blue 3mm led's and i've done alot of searches online for them. so far i've found one place to buy them
http://www.eled.com/SearchResult.asp?chkBlue=ON&wavelengthlogic=%3D&wavelength=&viewinganglelogic=%3D&viewingangle=&LuminousIntensitylogic=%3D&LuminousIntensity=&Search=Search&CategoryName=3mm%28T1%29

i just don't know which one would be the best to replace the 3mm led's u find in the switches like cruise/fog and a few others. they have quite a selection. hope someone can point out the best ones... or at least some people finally find the right size led's to do the conversion.

www.autolumination.com

#74 LED bulbs. they plug right in, cost less that the site you have, and already have the resistor built in.

do a search. lots of info in recent threads on this.

The #74 bulbs only plug right into the gauge cluster and the HVAC. All the other buttons must be hard wired with LEDs. I used the 5mm LED's from radio shack through out all the buttons. There were only a few problems I ran into, but I dealt. I had to trim the one for the AC button as it was too long. I had to widen the holes for the "on" and "off" lights for the cruise control and because of their large size, the rear wiper button will only go in the off position and the INT position. It won't go on the "on" positon. Like I said, it took some work, but I managed to complete the project and I am pleased with the way it looks.

oh ya forgot to mention that ^^^^. i used the #74 LED's on my gauge cluster but used Varad LED's (they have a resistor built into a miniatuer circuit board) on my HVAC, A/C and rear defroster buttons (no pwr mirros, cruise control or rear wiper on my car).

mmm these are for the cruise control fog light and mirror buttons. like jerseystyle said withouth fabrication the 5mm just WON"T fit! i know autoillumination has alot of led's that's where i got the led for my oil pressure gauge, but they don't sell 3mm led's just straight up. if you can get 3mm led's then there is no need to modify a 5mm or have fitment issues. I have already done the HVAC blue but most of the switches on our car's use little 3mm led's. But jersey what type would work best for the buttons?? cause there is quite a selection there

actually for the button's i'd recommed VARAD led's. search on ebay. they come in like a 4 pack usually. just having the resitor built into a casing makes things a lot easier. i cna't say for the other buttons but they fit fine for my AC button (main light only - i left the green/orange light), and rear defroster button (main light and ON light). just had to do some sanding to get rid of some spotting.
