Okay. Some of us always find a more horsepower-oriented way to spend any money we get on our car, so we have crappy speakers, a cheaper deck and would rather put $400 towards cams than an alarm, so we try to think of clever little Mcguyver things like this...

Okay. My car may get broke into. They may get my deck (<300), but I haven't replaced my subs or amps since the last "incident." So I'm more concerned right now about coming out in the morning and finding Daisy, well, missing. I have pretty much decided on installing a master switch on the signal line to the fuel pump that I will mount inconspicuously so they can't hotwire her and take off, so I think I have that base covered, but I was thinkin of the following...

You could install a decently loud siren under the hood and a couple of switches in the doors, but how difficult would it be to wire up a simple PCB with a 30 second timer in it that would trigger the siren if a switch wasn't activated upon entry? This siren would stay on until the switch was turned off. No need for starter interrupt, covered by fuel cut above.

Next, if we've made such a simple little delayed siren setup, why not have the ability to send a signal out to a relay that would fire a solenoid/servo which would fire a taser/stun gun mounted under the dash into the lap of the mother fucker attemtping to jack yo shit?

I'm thinking all the parts for this would run (with the exception of the taser) under $100. Sure you could buy an alarm for that kind of money, but I'd rather find some SOB that got 50,000VDC to the balls unconscious in my seat than a bunch of broken glass and no CDs and I don't even think the DEIs can do that.

Any ideas? This is mostly just some crazy shit I came up with today at work while putting little rubber feet on about 50 of these things...

Run a kill swith from your fuel pump and ignition and hide them in two different places; you car will never get stolen.

ok sorry, but the statement about performance people dont care about alarms and would rather spend the money somewhere else is totally false. if you value what you have in your car youll shell out the money. and who says you have to pay 400 for an alarm? get a cheapie for 100 or less and will work just as good as your 400$ alarm without paying for a name. most alarms nowdays have a starter interrupt but you ought to wire up a kill switch somewhere. if your putting lots of $$ into your car dont skimp on security or youll find your car stripped of all the parts you put into it. maybe you have to wait a couple months to buy that other mod when you buy your alarm, but youll be much happier knowing its there.

To wire a kill switch to the ignition you could do it a few different ways. You could tap into the wires under the dash, but I would tap into the wires that go to the coil pack. An expierenced car theif would be able to tell the ignition wires under the dash were splice and would still be able to hotwire it by just going further down the line, but they wouldn't take the time to pop the hood and look.

I meant no disrespect when I said what I did about the mod money. It's just, well, I'm an HP addict on a mission. A mission to dyno 200hp at the wheels. That and I have so much shit starting to bail on me now that I'm approaching 150kmiles, that I would rather invest in more power than style. emoji

As far as a thief maybe popping the hood to steal the bolt-ons, maybe wire up another switch to empty half a can of mace under the hood if it's popped. That would certainly deter them from wanting to come back and mess the next night. (Just bash the hell out of it with a bat emoji )

Anyways, I was just being creative again. emoji Thanks for the input.

naw man, i didnt think you meant any disrespect, it just....if your that performance oriented (which is great emoji ) then you need to protect that stuff unless you just have alot of $$ to shell out when/if it gets stolen. im just saying if you wanna keep your toys to get to 200whp...its wise to get an alarm. i didnt ever WANT to get an alarm...but hey, in these days we have tons of little pricks who dont like to pay for their own stuff. i hope you seriously consider an alarm...even if its just a cheapie emoji

EDIT: i installed a DEI pain generator inside my car somewhere in addition to the ext alarm. lets just say nobody i know can spend much time in the cabin with that SOB wailin at full force emoji

there was a guy around here with a super high dollar, one of a kind hot rod and he had a fuel cut off switch, he was so confident he left his keys in the ignition, anyhoo he was drinking at a bar one night and hears his car start, he doest do anything, everyone else is freaking out because the car is now driving away, he finishes his beer, walks around the corner and found his car, but the guy was mad and demolished every panel and pane of glass in the car, sometimes, it might just be better to let them take it than to make them mad

Here's what I was thinking about the taser option:

Most of your thefts occur between 3 and 6am, so I figured that a taser to the nuts would knock someone out for at least a half an hour. Plenty of time for a passerby to see the scene and call 911. Yes, there is the obvious chance that the dipshit will come back later and trash the car, but what can you do you know? I just want the fuckers to burn for it. I would be glad to tie a string to the trigger of a 12gage, but that's SO cliche! emoji

More likeley than not you would end up shocking your own balls. When I first got my stun gun I ended up shocking myself by mistake. I didn't read the instructions so I didn't realize that you had to discharge the tip after you shoot it. I touched the tip without discarging it and got shocked.

heres what i did to make mine have a pager type mod.... just hook up a relay to your alarm speaker, or dome lights, or something else you have come on when someone opens the door/set off the alarm....then get a cheap pair of walkie-talkies that have the two mile range.... you can hook up a transformer to cut the voltage from your battery down to 3volts so you dont have to be worried about turning it on, just leave it on all the time....then solder two wires to the "call" button....when they connect it sends the call sound to the other walkie talkie....hook those two wires up to the relay and hide everything somwhere....so as long as you're within 2 miles, you will know if someone broke in and can hopefully get there in time to kick their ass

^^^ nice idea! Cheapness and 2 mile radius. Only downside is looking like a choad with a walki-talkie on all the time. emoji

You can buy an alarm w/ a LCD pager on it that has a one mile range if it comes w/ a FM transmitter. I bought mine on eBay for 100 buck and I love it. Had my pager go off once, turned out that some kids leaned up against it and set off the shock sensor.
