I want to remove my tints, they're a little faded and plus, I have to get through inspection.

What's the best way to go about doing this? Do I have to use a heatgun or is there another way?

Ok i have removed some tints before and i saw a pro do it. He basicaly used a razor to get the tints off then he used some soapy water/ or goo gone in conjunction with a green scrubby pad, for the sticky stuff left over. Be careful if you are removing the rearwindow tints because the razor will mess up the defroster. so try to go inbetween the defroster things not sure what they are called, with the razor. good luck and hope i helped.

omg, i hate removing tint.

I started on the right window with the razor blade.. couldn't pull off more then 1 inch chunks. I kept on scraping and scraping with the razor tool like it was an ice scraper.. yea, it was that difficult.

Then like an hour later, i go to the driver's said and I say to myself, damn it, i dunno if I can take another hour of this.. and I start with the razor. I get off a little tab, pull it, and the whole thing just comes off, all in one piece.



Car looks good without side windows tinted. The rear windows and hatch still have tint, so the car doesn't look all stock.

What I did was soak the window down with windex and then stuck a black garbage bag to it and let it bake in the sun for a bit. If its how enough outside you will actually see some steam coming off the window. After its good and hot use a razor blade to peel up a corner, and the whole thing should peel right off. I did this to 4 year old tint and it worked like a charm. For any remaing glue I used some alcohol and it cleaned right off. Also use a brand new razor blade or you risk leaving scratches in the windows. Good luck.

the steamer would work very well, and take less time, but if you dont have access to a steamer. go to pep boys and down their tint isle they have a bottle of tint remover for like 5 bucks. worked on my car. hope this helps out a little...
