hey guys, i need help on removing the black hard weather stripping, i guess thats what it would be called. well anyways that black piece that is above the door that has metal under it. it goes over the top of the door right by the rain things on top of the roof. All I can see is one clip on the top but i dont want to break it. BTW I am taking it off of one of the eclipses that is at a salvage yard we go too. Thanks for any help.

take off the inner door panel. once that is off there are a couple screws that hold the rubber sticking. after you make sure you got all the screws the rest is held on by glue, be care ful when you peel it off, slowly pul it off.

Service manual I saw one time said you should use a heat gun to get the glue tacky and then run a piece of fiching line under it tha was tied between 2 sticks for grips. That will work I'm sure...

i dont think i explained which piece that i meant, im talking about the one that stays on the roof it doesnt come out with the door, it is right about it, the top of the window touches it when it closes, and its not the soft rubber piece that gives it a water tight seal it is the black piece right above that one that is metal sprayed with rubber i guess cuz mine is peeling and showing metal. i would love to change this out cuz it really stands out on my black car. thankx for the reponses

there are 8 or so screws holding it onto the body of the car. I took mine off last week, but there wasn't any glue on mine. they just popped right off. I believe machv sells new ones for around $90.

I replaced mine about 2 months ago and it looks MUCH better now. I replaced the upper ones that stay affixed to the roof and the ones on the top edge of the doors.
Just open the door and pull the rubber seal away from the rail. You will see about 8 exposed screw-heads. Its as simple as unscrewing and replacing it.
Dont get them from MachV. I got mine from the dealer for $25 each. I know the parts guys and they give me a discount on everything that I buy. If you cannot get them for $25 at your dealer, lemme know and I will see if I can score some for you. PM me.
