Hey, I wanna paint my valve cover (that's the black cover that says "DOHC" correct?) anyway I want to paint it blue to match my AEM CAI and then sand the "DOHC" off, so it's silver. Can I remove this easily? Does it have to be put back on to spec torque? Would you recommend getting one from a junkyard, having that painted or powdercoated and then installing that in place of my current one? Can I paint it with engine paint, the stuff that stands a LOT of heat? Will I need a new gasket or something for reinstallation?

it's not 2 bad, i did it...you should get a new gasket, and don't forget the ring gaskets around the spark plug holes...i did and endded up with a bunch of oil in my spark plug holes. Mine was painted with automotive paint...but hi temp paint will work, won't look as nice...
when you stip it, make sure you hit it with a light grit 3M pad, then degrese the whole thing (brake cleaner will work)

Yeah, it's fairly easy. The hardest part is taking the old gasket off. It's well worth it when you get done.

same as above....you don't need hi-temp paint. I haven't had a problem with mine. except when I used a little carb and choke cleaner to clean up a little spilt oil around the cap. I'd like to have it powder coated to eliminate that problem. getting the paint off the dohc is really easy, but takes patience. and clear over the whole thing when your done. not sure if they need to be torqued.
