ok im thinking about gel coating my interior, does anyone have pics of it done, a nice close up pic. what u guys think? also if anyone knows a places in nj that can do it, im in central nj.

hmmm gel coating.

I've never seen anyone done it. but not a bad idea though I think it could work and give you the same high gloss quality that you'd get by actually using the fibergalss.

You could actually try out a little piece of a interior.

Just go to any Composite material supply store... and ask for brushable gelcoat.

Granted brushable won't give u the same quality as spray type but for $20 its much better to try it out first and see if it works or not.

I'm not sure as to the hardness of gelcoat but I think as long as its dried up nice it should work. But then again it could also have hair line spyder web type cracks.

anyways.. get a brushable gelcoat try it out first, if it works then find a body shop that's willing to do that type of work. Also when getting gelcoat.. try to get "brushable tooling gelcoat". Its mostly used for molds but it dries harder/stronger than regular gelcoats.

You don't want hard gelcoat. There's an addative (and I can't remember what it's called) that will let your gelcoat be flexible. You want to have it mixed in with that as well as a minimal amount of heat (hardner). When gelcoat hardens it creates a lot of heat, if you put too much harnder into it it will deform your plastic.

I've been researching this for awhile. I'm doing this next spring or summer too.
