Im also doing my fiances carpet grey to darker grey because there is a lot of stains. also i bought plasticote fabric color which says it can be used on carpets also.

you can use the same stuff, however you will have to do more coats to achive the desired color. Other that that make sure you have good ventalation, I almost died when I did my carpit

forget that special fabric paint crap, toss it or put on ebay wut ever don't bother with it... go to wal-mart buy flat black or gloss block (which ever you prefer(glos for me)) take your carpet out, go to the self car wash and hit that shyt good, bleach if you want just make sure you get every thing out of it. let it dry completely!! hang the carpet over a fence and spray away, i used like 5 or more cans to get it good and dark... then let it dry completely!! put back in and enjoy...
i've had mine like this goin' on 3 years now, i only do minor touch ups in the high traffic areas like where the feet rest and stuff
well good luck and if you have any questions just post here or email me eclipticrider@msn.com

here are some more pics of the painted carpet sorry it took soo long
please excuse the mess, i don't get to clean everyday + i worked on my car all morning (alternator belt)
the pics realy don't do it justice, it looks much darker and even in real life, the best pic is the one w/the velvet back seat in it... the girls love velvet (my g/f likes it too)
