ok, i have an RS with no power options so i got the shitty all plastic doors. i already installed ths SPAL power windows kit and i like my switches in the center console but i wanna upgrade to GS doors. my question is...is there some way that i can shave over the little bumps and holes where the stock window/pwr lock switches are? i want the panels, but have no need for the switch pods. i wont move my window switches cus i love them where they are at, and i dont want power locks (already have keyless entry) so i wont be using that either. any suggestions? can i bondo over them, or would anyone who works with fiberglass just glass over it after shaving? ill probably end up painting that whole peice since i already have a painted interior so that wont be a big deal. i just wanna upgrade to the vinyl door pad and map pockets and everything, looks alot better then what i have now. I'm a Bondo man myself, it can work wonders when you use it right, but fibreglass may yeild better results.

I have the power locks and window panel and when I took it off one day there really is not much to it. Just the bracket on the underside for the whole switch pod. You should be able to bondo over it and sand it down without a problem. Paint would add a nice touch to it when finished, just take your time or it will look like shit. Getting in a hurry + Bondo = ugly. Just my 2 cents.

Funny side note: the power window and lock switches actually got pushed into my driver side door breaking the bracket so I got em bondoed in there now Works Great!

hmm, was thinking a minute ago about some fiberglass stuff i saw on American Chopper. they were trying to make a fiberglass seat for the comanche chopper bike. they used this 3 part stuff (i think it was 3 part). they mixed a couple things and then added a small bag of fiberglass chips. the stuff was just a sludge really and they brushed it on (sorta) and it set up overnight. i was thinking, could i put a plate underneath where the stock power box bolts up and then just pour that stuff into the holes and let it set up? only thing im afraid of with bondo is it cracking. if you think about it, since our doors are plastic there is a certain ammount of flex applied when opening and closing the door. also Uber suggested epoxy or something like that. i just need something that will last and will take paint easily.

to be completely honest with you, the best (and IMO only) way to do it would be to completely reproduce the piece entirely in fiberglass. plastic and fiberglass dont stick together very well, and considering that the panel will be subject to a lot of flex its just a bad idea. dont even try using fiberglass to seal up the hole. if you want to do it cheap and easy, just attach a plate underneath the hoel and "top it off" with bondo, as you were thinking. it wont last, but it will look good for a while, maby even a year or so. the better job you do of scuffing up the plastic and cleaning it w/ isopropal alcohol the longer the bondo will adhere.

haha i was just thinking about the same thing... having converted to power stuff kicks ass but i don't like how i've still got the holes from the cranks. i don't really wanna swap skins if they've got switches though... hmmm... i was thinking maybe you could wire the switches to do somethig else. can't think of anything at the moment though. just a thought. it'd be kinda neat.
