i recently installed indiglo gauges, and stupid me, i took off the needles. i was able to recalibrate all the needles except the gas gauge. the needle moves, but it stops at 3/4 and wont go any further. there are no bumps on the gauge, so i have no clue why it wont move. anyone have any ideas?
You need to lighten the needle then. Just shave some material off it to make it lighter so the motor (which is obviously worn out) can lift it to the F mark.
Or take a phillips screwdriver and go to a salvage yard looking for gauge clusters. You can gank it out in under 10 minutes.
is it getting stuck on something? I remember when I took mine out and put it back it did the same thing. There's this plastic clear piece behind the face that it can get stuck on I think.. not the front of the needle that's colored.. the other side of it.. like *-----> the > is the point and the * is the back.. the * can get stuck. Heh hit me up on aim if this is confusing
yeah i think it was hitting that plastic piece. i just realized that today, after i sat there messed with the thing for 20 min or so. well i jsut filled up my tank, so hopefully, it will work now. thanks for the help.
Good luck, ou can take the cluster out, and then there are 4 screws that hold the gas gauge in. I just bought one for $15 shipped to replace mine. Mine just quit I didnt even take the needle off. I know it isnt the indiglos as I tried with and without. the back of it is getting real hot too. I thik the motor just died. I can do a write up next week if you all want.
