#52878, "Does anyone make dual exhaust for our cars?"

My Bomex rear bumper has places for dual exhaust. I can get the muffler shop to make me a Y slitter and run my pipe, but I just wondered if someone made a dual exhaust setup.

dual exhaust only helps if you're turbo..if you're not turbo there's really no point in dual exhaust......backpressure for NA = good.

people will laugh at you when it gets cold outside and you can only see smoke coming out of one side. and when one side gets more carbon deposits than the other

I was going to get a catback and all but i decided to just order two mufflers and get them piped for my bomex rear....car got painted today so prolly in about a week it will have the exhaust on it w/ pictures...and btw...will dual exhaust hurt my car right away? because it could be like a month tops before i put on my stage II kit.

The only performance mods I have done to my car are an intake and 8mm plug wires, and the only reason for those was because they look good. Needless to say, the look of duals out weighs the downside of a performance loss.

I have plans for the bomex rear when I get it. It's made for 1 muffler. The driver side hole is notched down to accomodate a muffler. Passenger side isn't. emoji

I know, but it just doesn't look right with only one muffler and a huge ass hole on the other side.

Do this: have exhaust manifold flanges cut. Weld 2 pipes into a Y pipe and out 1 side. Have the other 2 pipes to a Y pipe as well. Bam. Dual exhaust, even smoke distribution. You definetely don't want 2.5" piping tho. That's a lot of flow for just 2 pipes. You'd wnna polish the "header" or make a shield probably. Just an idea that probably wouldn't take much fabricating. emoji

hmm not entirely sure if i understand what your saying...less than 2.5?....and my muffler fits the other hole fine..only thing i am afraid of is a little slap while my car is on...I will let my muffler people worry about that though.

better idea- Y pipe after the cat. Then dual exhaust. Why would 1 smoke then? They'd both smoke imo.

shockeclipse: I know you want everybody to see what you have done to your car, but instead of having all those pics as your sig just post them in a topic. Having to scroll through all of those pics everytime you post is a pain in the ass.

I have dual exhaust on my car. I had it split well past the Cat. They both are getting about equal distribution. I love the setup and it has a nice deep sound. I couldn't be happier with the setup. I say do it! I have a CAI, header, test pipe, and dual b-5 exhaust. Email me if you want some pics of the setup. TrickedEclipse95@aol.com

I was thinking about the dual exhaust too. after the cat have the pipes split and have one muffler on each side. Start at liek a 3" cat and then split into 2 smaller pipes because going from a 3" pipe to dual 3" pipes will slow the exhaust gases down a whole lot. Even goign from a 3" exhaust to 2 2.5" exhausts will slow down because 2 2.5 exhaust can flow more than a 3" exhaust.
3" exhaust xsectional area is 7.069 sq in.
2.5" xsectional are is 4.91 sq in 8 2 for dual exhaust = 9.82 sq in

so a 3" - dual 2.5" will flow a whole lot. This is what I had thought about doing but maybe going from a 3" to 2.25 in may work better

2.25" xsectional area is 3.98 sq in times 2 = 7.95 sq in. much closer to the 3" area.

This is only my opinion and what i came up with. having too much of a free flwoing exhaust will effect low end torque btu if you have a turbo than im not sure how much it would really effect it
