would it be easier to paint the dash inside the car, or to take it out. i heard someone say they pulled it out, and it wasn't that hard, but i cant't remember who it was. (tommy maybe?) also, how exactly do you get the airbag compartment out without exploding it in your face. i want to paint that too.

My best bud had his Neon's dash painted white and he did it right in the car. I would think it would be easyer because alls you have to do is mask very thing and paint. I am going to be doing it soom maybe after I sell this body kit.

Dude, don't paint your interior. It looks so tacky to see this shiny crap paint on the inside of your ride. Definately lowers the resale value if you ever sell the ride.

From what I hear you can get your interior dyed, and it looks like it came that way from the factory.

I painted my interior two-tone red and white: You can see it at
http://mason.gmu.edu/~marndt. I painted it inside the car, it took some time to mask up the windshield and everything else. Although, be patient. Try to avoid drips. I was a little impatient with mine, and if you look close, you can see where the paint was thicker than other spots. Also, make sure you get the front part of the dash as well, since I had my windshield covered I couldnt see how well it was painted. It turned out really light in the front and u can kinda of the see the gray underneath it. Also, I would clean it really really good, buy some degreaser, or goo-off and clean it really good. I havent tried it yet, BUT DONT primer it, just lay on some krylon paint. Cause then when u want to take it off, it makes it much, much easier.

The way I painted it, you can buy some light paint remover and clean everything right off. Just watch what stuff u buy, or you will melt the plastic underneath it. The only thing I did that was permanent was the cloth door panels, sun visors, and thats it. Everything can either stay like it is or I can take the crap off. But I will be most likely keeping my car forever. I still got 4 yrs left to pay it @328 a month, and I already got 93K miles~!!!

I use to have a White 99 GS Sport with a Star Stage II Ball Bearing T3/T4 turbo...it was fun untill....well those who remember me know Oh Ya...this is what I have now... a 99' GSX...

When i do it I am going to get a flat paint because I don't like that shiny crap.

The bad thing about flat paint is will dry and crack much easier, expecially in the sun. Thats why people who paint it, clear coat it to protect it, not to make it shiny. Mine is shiny, but I think it looks okay. But then ago, if you dont like shiny interior. Why do most people use armor all on their vinyl? Not saying you do or anything, but most people do.

As for dying the interior, dont ask me why i didnt do it. I didnt have time to find red dye. But most people just re-vinyl their dashes or paint it. They just buy actual vinyl paint, not sure if it is the same as dye, but it still looks really good, just with the regualar drip here and there.

do they sell a type of masking tape that is flexable that let's you tape off rounded edges. i'm following some of the faint interior lines, and i find it really really hard to bend normal thick masking tape... it just folds over and causes creasing, which will end up getting filled with paint.

i'm getting so discouraged, i'm thinking of doing a shitty job taping, then just clean the unwanted areas of paint afterwards with q-tips and paint remover. it's annoying as hell.

buy the sem's vinyl spray from an auto paint store, its worth the $8 a can, i used this with sem;s clearcoat...painted it with the dash in the car, just remove all the plastic panels and steering wheel and all. no drips, and its glossy as hell, looks flawless.

well if you look at cyan's door panels, where he has those blue stripes on the white backround... i want to tape off the round oval shape in the plastic. (where you have that hawaiian design) i finally got the shape i needed after layering the masking tape a lot.

as i was waiting for the paint to dry, i got an awesome idea, it's a really clean idea too. not tacky at all, but i don't want to tell you about it, i want you guys to see it for yourself... should be done tomorrow. well, at least the door panels will.

Dude, take off the door panels. Just unscrew the four screws on each corner of the panel, then just pop the panel off. Once u do that, unclip the power window connecter and its off. Once u do that unscrew the entire panel. It makes it so much easier, and the amount of time you would have to tape around it, u could have had the panel off by then. It also makes it look much better painted, especially in the tiny crevices where tape would have messed it up.

if you look at the door panel of an rs, or talon without power windows, there isn't that fabric material that you wrapped in the hawaiian design. there's just an indentation where it is "supposed" to be. i'm trying to perfectly tape it off but i found that after painting and removing the paint twice, it's not as easy as i thought it'd be.

i think i give up now.

you know how you had fabric where you put the hawaiian fabric at? well my car is all leather and since I am thinking of making everything white abd red I wanna know how to paint that piece where instead of fabric its leather or should I replace it with leather? let me know aight? thanx I have already bought the red and white leather for my seats.

Actually, im not that positive with the leather setups, but it might be vinyl. I would get it dont vinyl or leather(if you can) It would match your car much better than anything else.
