i did this method and it works pretty well. some may already know the tirefoam trick, but i didnt and i am sure some ohers dont so i thought i would post it up. go ahead and make fun of my heavily modded engine, but hey, at least its clean now.

Nice idea, but how about the water in the spark plug well issue. That's a suck fest imo. Still, wrapping the head there with an old towel or shirt is still easier than scrubbing and cleaning imo!

check it out, cold air intake, t4 turbo dominique nos fogger system, iac controller.. funny, it looks too much like my engine bay.. well, the before pic anyhow!

Step 1: Put down everything in your hands.
Step 2: Grab a lucky strike, Smoke it.
Step 3: Walk to the fridge, double fist some keystone ice, sit down in the shade, drink one beer, finish cigarette, drink other beer, roll a joint, smoke it, walk back to your problem, and in about 5 minutes the solution will come to you.

If still nothing, your trying to hard. Start over at step 1.

Thanks farmdogg.. i did it and it looks good.. i didn't do my valve cover cause i'm paranoid about my spark plugs and stuff but my car looks a lot better..i even paitned my strut tower bar brackets and stuff to match my red top battery and injen intake POINTS FOR YOU!

how much did it cost you guys to buy that stuff to do that? and yeah, should i cover up the well, ignition, intake..... what else?

I would cover all electric n ignition stuff. you can go back and clean those carefully if you are all about havin it supaclean.

I take off my intake to get around the side and clean as well. After im done with that I always use a few rags and wipe everything down as best as I can. take your time so it pays off and looks great.

total cost is under $5...1.50 for the Gunk and like 3 for the foam.

i only covered up my intake, but might be a good idea to cover the spark plug area, and anything electrical you might have worries about. like xcasbonx said, you can always touch it up with a rag at the end.

HOLY SH*T!!! LOL, I've never heard/C'n any1 do that B4! My engine compart is pretty clean, but not quite so shiny like that! Gotta friend w/ a VERY dirty 98 RS, I'll def B sure 2 tell him bout this.

yeah we do this method at my detailing shop. it works wonders in almost any situation. makes our engine bays spotless.
