I have owned my black 96 GS since August 1996. The car is usually washed and waxed at least once a month religously. About a month or so ago I noticed some paint flaking off the top of the side mirrors. Now, the paint is completely gone, peeling off etc. I was a little upset but now, within a few days my rear spoiler (all three peices) has done the same thing. The paint is just deteriorating off the top of the entire thing. This has happened extremely fast, from perfect to screwed. This has only happened on those five pieces, the rest of the car looks perfect considering its a 96.

Why does this happen to a car that has been babied? Before I call any body shops up, does any body know how easy it is to remove and repaint those pieces back to looking perfect?

Before I bought my car, I was looking at a '97 TSI AWD Talon and the paint was doing that on the rear spoiler. Then I got my '98 and thought I must have gotten a good one, but now it's starting on mine too...hmmm...maybe bad paint day! I dunno...

Maybe when I repaint it I should use NuFinish. Anybody else use that stuff? My wife drives a 91 celica GT and only uses nufinish. She always laughs at me when I do the multi step wax stuff. Funny thing is, her 91 celica has perfect factory paint, Silver Blue in color. A damn 91. Maybe I should have her do my car from now on.

Hey man i got a 97 eclipse with black paint and its doing the same thing. They whole top of my car is peeling off. It is pissin me off. I bought my car about 6 months ago and it was a tiny spot and now the whole top is gone. They trunk is even starting to peel. I am gettin my car repainted in a few weeks so o well, it just sucks. I feel you pain man!

should you really be waxing your car once a month! i wash my car every friday, and only wax it once every 4-5 months.

i heard DSMs apparently the side mirror tops..the paint is very crappy..err paint job.. my paint on the top of my mirrors is just about gone..looks like i rubbed against something but i didn't.. it's dumb.
