Does anyone know what it takes to take out the airbag console? I havent looked yet, but are there bolts underneath the glove box?
I am going to convert it to a cooler for my corona's....gotta go with my interior style.

LAST EDITED ON 04-Jun-01 AT 12:56 PM (PST)

If you're going to use the car for just show, then by all means remove the airbags and go wild with interior mods, but otherwise give it some thought.

I personally along with a friend of mine have had the opportunity to try out the airbags in my Eclipse. I hit a parked car at over 45 mph (Not like hitting a brick wall, but trust me it hurts. Friends say I was going much faster, but I think I would have killed someone if I had been); and trust me they work great. I was wearing my seatbelt, so the airbag didn't do much for me other than punch me in the face. My friend on the other hand neglected to put on his seatbelt and if it weren't for the airbag his fat ass would have been splattered all over the car I hit.

P.S. I believe the manual says the airbags will disarm if the battery is disconnected for over a minute.

Yeah I finally got it out. I got kind of lucky...I didnt disconnect the battery for either side airbags-I was paintng my steering wheel also, so I had to take off the wheel and disconnect the bag.

Also, if anyone else reads this, the way you get the glove compartment off(more like to go down all the way) is to remove the to rubber protectors that prevent the glove comp. from going down any further. To do this, you just gotta pull them down and pull em out...the easy thing to do.
