Just wondering what would be a good way to remove the yellow funk from my talon headlights.

Try the headlight clearing write up.
You don't want to use sand paper on it. That would make it really screwed up. If the crud is on the outside (test with a finger nail or your key really small) get some plastic polish and have at it.

Also, it will be easier to do with the headlight in your lap, as opposed to the light on the car. Good luck!
