My cars paint is in shitty condition. I thought I would save up for a paint job for like a year (at least $2,000)... so until then I'm going to do all the prep-work on my car and then my and my buddy are going to paint it.... flat black.... primer that is. I'm thinking it'll look pretty sweet for a while (check out the November 2002 (I think) issue of SCC...there is a 240sx that is flat black in there... its bad.) Yeah, that's my "idea"

I'm just wondering what you would do...

a) Leave it and pay to have it prepped/painted

b) Prep it myself (My friend does bodywork for a living) and paint it flat black?

Hit me up with the feedback.

imo, that is a big job and needs to be done RIGHT. I know some people who have done the work themselves, and it looks good, but if you don't know what you're doing, pay to have it done right. This isn't just a minor thing, its a MAJOR project, so if you want to have it done 100% right w/ a warranty, pay to have it done. If you think you could pull it off, by all means go for it. Good luck!

steve

Just my thought but if you are going for a nice looking ride you will want to get it painted professionally. I have seen way to many try it and fail miserably. Plus with a flat black car it will get dirty fast and be hard to clean. You will not get the satisfaction of spending a day waxing it and getting it SHINEY....

just my .02

Chad

the key to a good paint job is mostly the prep work. be sure u know how to do it right imo.
Honestly, I HATE seeing cars with primer riding around for a while. I don't hate that so much as hearing people talk about cars with 5 colors of primer being badass. (and they aren't being sarcastic) I had my front and sides sitting when I bought them (at diff. times) and the whole damn town was begging me to slap them on non-painted. Personally, I wouldn't wanna drive my car around primered. I can't say much tho. My beater needs paint BAD. But, it's a beater. For now.
Do what u want tho man, it's ur car.
