will 235-45-17 fit on a 17x7.5 rim?Or would a 225 be better?

225 is better. Also it is closer to the stock diameter if you have 14's. If you had stock 14's and got 235/45/17 your speedometer will be almost 2 MPH off. The 225's are only about .5 MPH off. Just thought i'd let you know.
