i did the conversion....it cost me a thousand bucks total(not including the price of the wing). I think they filled the old holes, welded them shut and then drilled new holes for the turbo wing. and then painted it along with both entire rear quarter panels and they painted the hatchback top too. and yes, i'm pretty sure i got ripped of emoji

i wouldn't say ripped off.....my friends have been quoted 800, on average from different shops and at different times. Jus the painting alone is gonna make it cost alot. Good luck though peeps, it looks hella fine. You could also get a fiberglass or carbon fiber hatch, which has no holes in it and put the wing on yourself.

I want a turbo wang. emoji

I'm definately considering it, a friend of mine knows a guy who does body work real cheap. It seems like the most expensive part of the process would be getting the rear end repainted?

its nice not having the 3 piece wing. its alot of work, but make sure you weld the holes, not bono them. and it sucks having to paint the whole quarter panels.

the expensive part....as always is the case.....is the labor. Paint is cheap, and time consuming. So yeah, i guess one could say that the painting is the expensive part.

I am curious as to why they need to be welded? If the rear quarter was smashed they wouldn't weld it.

if the rear quarter is smashed they will try to get the dents out, but more times then not they will cut the piece out that is FUBAR and weld part of a new rear quarter on there. Or thats what i am to understand. The holes are welded because bondo, glass, etc can and will crack or give way over time. A weld is much stronger, and generally, a more permanent fix. These are jus what i have pieced together with convos of other people on this matter. Feel free to step in and correct me, i know i ain't perfect and i am far from am autobody expert, so far.. emoji

Yeah isn't that the way it's supposed to be? As close to the glass as possible? I've seen other conversions where the spoiler was a little further back on the hatch and it didn't look quite right...

shit i can get the rear painted for around $200. infact we did that to a 3g eclipse that had a big aluminum wing on it. had factory spoiler holes. any hoo we used lead to fill the holes. a lead filing kit costs around the area of $75. its not hard work it just takes a while

I was under the impression that if you were looking at teh car from the side, teh peak of the arc is lined up with the end of the hatch.
