Hey all,

I'm pretty new here so I'm hoping you guys can help with this question...I'm finally ready to get my Eclipse after several years of dreaming (the perfect one I'm looking for is a '99 GS - a GS-T or GSX would be soooo much better but I can never find one with what I want - silver, manual tranny, MUST have the sports package with moonroof and leather...yes I know, I'm quite picky)..and I found one on eBay matching every single specification I wanted.

With one little problem . The logo on the front bumper is missing.

I know, I know, that's not supposed to be a big problem, but I've been looking for my perfect Eclipse for so long that I would prefer it be intact, at least on the exterior. Sooo...since I've never had a close look at the logo in person before, can you guys help and tell me if it's imbedded, painted on, or attached to the bumper? And if I actually got this logo-less Eclipse, can I get the logo replaced at a dealer or bodyshop, or can I do it myself?

I might not get this specific Eclipse (it has 78k+ miles on it...wayyy too many than what I had in mind)...but any help you guys can give, I'd appreciate it. BTW, if you know anyone looking to sell an Eclipse like the one I described above at a REASONABLE price, please, please, tell me!

dont go to the dealer for a logo, they will charge u an arm and a leg. just leave a post in the classified section here and dsmtuners and im certain u could get one shipped for close to nothing.

Pick up a chrome emblem from the 2002+ eclipse. They look so much better than the crappy red sticker that is stock for our cars. I'm a 96, but you can see how the chrome emblem looks on silver in my sig (kinda).

Thanks for the replies....I just took a closer look at the pictures of the Eclipse, and it looks like the bumper is totally smooth in the front - are the stock bumpers like that or are they grooved in the front for an emblem?

(I'm leaning towards getting this Eclipse for now but I'm still having reservations about getting a manual with this many miles on it...I'm just hoping that the previous owners didn't treat it like hell)

all bumpers that came from the mitsu factories came with embeded emblems... odds are if the surface is completely smooth, it was a factory replica.. there are several on this board that have them and they dont have the embeded emblem....

and like others, i would suggest getting a chrome looking emblem from a dealer... i paid like 12bux from the dealer.. its a sticker and looks better than the stock 2g stickers.

By the looks of the bumper, I'm wondering if I would have any trouble installing the chrome emblem from the 2002+ Eclipses on it.

First one's the manual I'm talking about, second one's automatic, but it has lower miles...decisions, decisions...I was also wondering why the automatic has dual exhaust pipes when the manual has one...is that the way it came on the original '99 GSs or has one of them been changed?

man i love the look of the stock 99s... the first car looks pretty clean.. nicely dropped with 17s.. but.. that front end is not stock.. it does have some minor imperfections tho.. the hood line doesnt meet up with the fender line on the passenger side.. and with a different front end, might be signs of an accident..

another nice looking car... and by the way, you have great choice in color! and that car is pretty perfect.. but again, it is auto.. most of us in here (b/c we like speed and the ability to control the car), prefer manuals... i guess its just personal preference.

the second one has the dual tips b/c i think the oz special edition had the gst mufflers... or it could just be a bonus that the previous owner added and new muffler or even exhaust system... i do see new intakes in there.. so maybe the exhaust was upgraded as well.. <shrugs>

or you can just come up with your own thing. I plan on cutting out the mitsu logo, well the indentation. and maybe putting a led back there with a reflector.

that's an aftermarket front, it's been in an accident. email the seller about it. if he lies, it's fraud. buy the car, prove at a mechanic's shop it was in an accident, sue him for fraud.

I've ran Carfax reports on both Eclipses the seller has up for auction, and ironically, the automatic is the one listed as having been in an accident involving the front bumper and the manual is the one with the squeaky clean record. I'm probably going to take a pass on both these cars...since I'll be using this Eclipse for a long, long time, I don't feel like compromising the looks for the performance of the car or vise versa by going with either of these cars.

Well, off to autotrader.com to find some more potential Eclipses...

Both fronts have been repainted (the little lip on both is silver). Just because a car has a clean carfax, that doesn't mean that it has never been in an accident By the way, nice choice in color

ya my eclipse has diff serials and the body shop told me i had 2 layers of paint on my hood and pass fender...and i got it from autonation usa, back before they were bought out and sold as a major financing company/dealership chain. go figure

yeah. my carfax is clean, but that doesn't mean that it it. heehee..
First car is deff a fix job, and the 2 tips aren't part of the OZ package. I got that package and I only got 1 tip. Most likely the prev owner swapped the mufflers out.

I would go with a manual even though it has more milage cause an auto just has so many more things to go wrong.

the bumper should have the fitting for the emblem, not flat, but you can get the knew mitsu badges that are chromed out, but you should get it at www.machv.com they sell it cheap, around 6-8 bucks, if fits perfectly with the 97-99 front not the 95-96 though

For the 95-96, a Lancer emblem fits almost perfectly. The top diamond sticks up just a hair, but you don't know it unless you get within 6" of it.

I can't tell the color of seats in the pic- but if that manual has dark grey leather, it's no 99. Silver 99's have black. I don't think there were any grey leather silver 99's anyway.
